- About the attractions|2026 Kurobe Alpine Route and Kamikochi 2-day tour (Chinese-speaking guide/departure from Tokyo) –

▲ Kamikochi Kamikochi is a popular tourist destination and summer resort located in the upper reaches of the Azusa River in the southern part of the Hida Mountains in western Nagano Prefecture, Japan. It has an elevation of approximately 1,500 meters. The entire area belongs to Matsumoto City and is part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park, designated as a National Cultural Property (Special Place of Scenic Beauty, Special Natural Monument). It features onsen and serves as a base for climbing Mount Hotaka and Mount Yagaya. The name Kamikochi comes from the hiragana "kamikouchi" (神垣内), which refers to the descent of the deity "Hotaka no Mikoto" (穗高見命) to Mount Hotaka, where a ritual was performed at the Okunomiya and Myojin Pond of Hotaka Shrine. To protect the natural environment, private vehicles are not allowed.

▲Taisho Pond Taisho Pond is a volcanic lake formed by the volcanic eruption of Mount Yakedake in 1915. The "dead trees" in the lake present different dreamlike scenes depending on the season and time of day.

▲Tashiro Pond Tashiro Pond is a shallow wetland; its new greenery in May, its yellow leaves in October, and its thin ice in late autumn are all breathtaking sights.

▲Kappa Bridge Kappa Bridge is the most iconic attraction in Kamikochi, a 5-minute walk from the bus terminal. From the bridge, you can enjoy views of the Hodaka mountain range, Mount Yagami, and the Azusa River. During the May holidays, summer vacation, and autumn foliage season, it attracts numerous tourists from both Japan and abroad.

▲Myojin Pond
It takes about 60 minutes to walk from Kappa Bridge along the upper reaches of the Azusa River to Myojin Pond. This area is known as the sacred ground of the inner shrine of Hodaka Shrine. Various wild plants and birds create a tranquil atmosphere, perfect for immersing yourself in nature's embrace. The view of Mount Myojin from Myojin Bridge is also spectacular, attracting many photography enthusiasts.

▲Toho Hotaka
The Hodaka mountain range can be seen from various spots in Kamikochi, making it an integral part of the region. Mount Oku-Hodaka is the third highest peak in Japan, and is known as one of the "100 Famous Mountains of Japan," one of the "New 100 Famous Mountains of Japan," and one of the "100 Famous Mountains of Flowers."

▲Mount Yagami
Mount Yagami, at 2455 meters, is the only active volcano in the Northern Alps of Japan. The sight of smoke swirling in the blue sky is breathtaking.

▲Kurobe Alpine Route
The highlight of this trip is "Snowy Valley." Various modes of transportation are used to admire the snow walls. Visitors can stroll along the snow wall corridor between Tengu-daira and Muro-daira, enjoying close-up views of the massive snow walls nearly 18 meters high on both sides. Experience the rich snow cover accumulated after nearly six months of ice cover. At an altitude of 2,450 meters on Tateyama's Muro-daira, witness the power of nature and the awe-inspiring spectacle created by human carving, its majestic grandeur undeniable.

Tateyama Kurobe is also known as "Japan's Last Hidden Gem," and has been considered a sacred mountain in Japan since ancient times, ranking alongside Mount Fuji and Mount Hakusan as one of Japan's three great sacred mountains. The snow walls are open from April 15th to June 22nd.

Besides viewing the snow walls, there are also panoramic ski slopes, snow huts, and a snow labyrinth. Therefore, it attracts tourists from all over the world every year. The snow piled up to several meters high on both sides of the road, equivalent to a six-story building, is breathtaking. This road, located in the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in Japan, is a famous tourist route. It winds through the mountains at an altitude of 2400 meters, where heavy snowfalls occur every winter, creating snow walls as high as 18 meters. The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, known as the Japanese Alps, is a long passage spanning the Akazawa-dake (2678 meters) and Tateyama (3015 meters) mountains in Nagano. Its massive snow walls are famous both domestically and internationally, known in Japanese as "Snow Valley."
