Ginzan Onsen and Zao Hydrangea Winter Day Tour (Depart from Sendai/Chinese Guide)

Depart from Shinjuku, Tokyo, a convenient base, and head to Ouchi-juku, a renowned tourist destination in Tohoku. Admire the rows of thatched houses from an easily accessible observation deck. In the afternoon, visit Ginzan Onsen and stay at the local ryokan Ginzanso. In the evening, enjoy ample time to explore and photograph the hot spring district, which includes both natural hot spring facilities and open-air baths. The following day, head to Zao to admire the magnificent and magical frost formations, creating wonderful memories!

-Attraction Introduction-

▲Ouchi-juku
Ouchi-juku was an important post station during the Edo period, boasting over 300 years of culture and history. Today, well-preserved traditional thatched houses and shops line the streets. At the end of the street stands a temple and an observatory, offering panoramic views of the entire Ouchi-juku area. It's especially magical during the snowy season!

▲ Ginzan Onsen
Over 500 years ago, silver was discovered here, earning the area the name "Ginzan." From the Taisho period to the early Showa era, numerous ryokans (Japanese inns) were built along the steaming Ginzan River, each boasting a history of nearly a century. As night falls, gas lamps warm the streets, creating a sense of quaint charm in the quiet night.

※ Ginzan Onsen hotels are highly sought-after; reservations open six months in advance and are quickly sold out.

※Due to the influx of tourists to the Ginzan Onsen area during winter, non-residents must transfer to a shuttle bus to enter. This restriction does not apply to guests staying at the hot springs.

▲ Zao Hyoju

When cold Siberian winds meet the Zao Mountains, they rise rapidly, creating a moisture-laden mist that instantly freezes on tree branches. Combined with days of snow, these shrubs form frost. The Zao Ropeway offers spectacular views of the shrubs.

-Hotel Information-

Ginzan Onsen Senkyo no Yado Ginzan-sou
Boasting "the widest open-air bath" and "a reclining open-air bath," Ginzan-sou exudes the romantic, high-quality, and traditional charm of the Taisho era. Located at the highest point of Ginzan Onsen Street, it boasts spacious accommodations and stunning natural scenery, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city streets. Enjoy the open-air bath, where the forest and stream weave a vibrant seasonal scene, and the only reclining open-air bath in the Tohoku region.

These twin Japanese-style rooms offer exclusive access to stunning natural scenery. Each room features an indoor bathing area with a window overlooking the exterior. From within, you can fully enjoy the pure beauty of Ginzan Onsen, the clear waters of the Ginzan River, the chirping of wild birds, and the rustling of leaves. In winter, the pristine white snowy landscape shimmers beneath the steam. Quietly savor the moment of relaxation, letting your mind, ears, eyes, and body breathe in the natural light.
