Mount Gozaisho, located in Mie Prefecture, Japan, is the closest snow-capped mountain to Nagoya. Take the aerial cable car, which takes you all the way up to the ski resort at Mount Gozaisho. The Mount Gozaisho cable car boasts the title of "highest in Japan," with its 61-meter-high pylon, Tower 6. At Mount Gozaisho, you can enjoy not only skiing but also snow tubing (sledding) and a variety of other snow activities. The views from the summit are truly spectacular. You don't have to travel all the way to snowy regions like Hokkaido or Tohoku; in Mie Prefecture, near Nagoya, you can fully enjoy the winter fun of snowy mountains in just an hour! If the weather and other conditions are right, you might even be able to see a spectacular display of frost-covered trees (recommended for visiting between January and February).
