Tour Overview

A must-see for Korean history buffs! Depart from Seoul and visit Gyeongju, Korea's historic city.

Appreciate the religious aesthetics of the World Cultural Heritage - Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple

Stroll through the Hanok Village in Hanbok and stay overnight for an immersive experience

Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto, two of the most beautiful religious buildings listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are located in Gyeongju, about two hours from Seoul. Once home to the "Golden City," the capital of the Silla Dynasty, Gyeongju boasts the most historical sites in South Korea, brimming with historical culture and a relaxed atmosphere. For those who enjoy exploring ancient Korean history, Gyeongju is a must-see destination.

-Attraction Introduction-

▲ Cheomseongdae
Cheomseongdae is the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in the East. Built during the reign of Queen Seondeok, the 27th king of Silla, it was used to observe clouds and constellations in the sky. 362 stones were used to construct Cheomseongdae, symbolizing the number of days in a year.

▲ Gyeongju Gyochon
Gyeongju Gyochon is a traditional Korean village built by the city of Gyeongju. It offers visitors a glimpse into the past lives of the Choi family and provides educational and hands-on experiences.

▲ Donggung Palace and Wolji
Wolji is an artificial lake built by King Munmu to commemorate Silla's unification of the Three Kingdoms. Legend has it that Silla nobles enjoyed boat rides on Wolji. In the 1980s, the discovery of pottery fragments with the inscription "Wolji" reaffirmed that the name originally meant "Pond Reflecting the Moon." Nearby is the Donggung Palace, the Silla royal palace, where celebratory banquets were often held.

▲ Seokguram Grotto
Seokguram Grotto, located on Mount Toham, was designated National Treasure No. 24 on December 20, 1962. It is a typical Korean grotto temple, constructed of granite and housing a Tathagata Buddha statue, one of the greatest masterpieces in the East.

Bulguksa Temple
Located on the slopes of Mount Toham, Bulguksa Temple, along with Seokguram Grotto, was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1995. Both are considered the core of Silla's splendid Buddhist culture. Legend has it that King Beopheung of Silla built the temple over 1,400 years ago, at the behest of his mother, to ensure peace and prosperity for the nation.
