▲Gangneung ARTE MUSEUM
Gangneung ARTE MUSEUM is d'strict's third permanent immersive media art museum, opened in December 2021 near Gyeongpo Lake in Gangneung. Gangneung is ranked first among the Eight Scenic Spots of Kanto. The Gangneung ARTE MUSEUM, occupying 1,500 pyeong (approximately 1,500 pings), showcases 12 vibrant digital media artworks themed around valleys, reflecting the unique character of Gangwon-do and Gangneung as the heart of the Baekdudaegan. Each artwork, themed around Eternal Nature, not only offers a powerful visual experience but also complements sensual music and fragrances, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the artworks for a truly immersive experience.
▲ Jumunjin Beach
Jumunjin Beach, located in Hyangho, Jumunjin-eup, a filming location for the Korean drama "Goblin," boasts a 700-meter-long, 9,608-square-meter beach. Its clear, shallow waters make it a perfect summer getaway for the whole family. The beautiful sight of waves crashing against the white sands creates a breathtaking spectacle that will mesmerize the heat. It's also a famous setting from "Goblin" and a must-see for fans!
▲Gangneung Jungang Market (Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market)
Gangneung Jungang Market is the most representative traditional market in Gangneung, Gangwon Province. Established in 1980, it's a permanent market open daily. It offers a wide variety of goods, offering a glimpse into the lives of Gangneung residents and a taste of the local cuisine. In 1954, a temporary wooden structure was erected on the market site. In 1982, the Jungang Market complex was completed under the Jungang Market Modernization Project. The complex comprises one basement floor and two above-ground floors (with a total floor area of 15,436 square meters), housing 449 shops. The basement floor houses a seafood counter and sashimi shops, while the first and second floors house general wholesale and retail businesses (food and clothing). Jungang Market was later renamed Sokcho Tourist Fishery Market. Garlic bread and fried chicken are also recommended must-try foods at Gangneung Jungang Market.
