Starting from downtown Daegu, spend a day strolling through Daegu's historic, modern neighborhoods. ▲Dalseong Park
Among Daegu's many parks, Dalseong Park is undoubtedly the oldest and most popular among residents. Within the park is Gwanpungru, designated Local Cultural Property No. 3. This building once served as the main gate of Gyeongsang Gyeongyeong. With the establishment of Gyeongsang Gyeongyeong, Bujeongmun Gate was built to the south of Seonhwadang, and a pavilion later constructed atop it, becoming Gwanpungru. The site was converted into a park in 1905, the ninth year of Emperor Gojong's reign. In February 1965, the city of Daegu decided to develop the park into a comprehensive park, leading to its current appearance. The park features a lawn plaza, a comprehensive cultural center, a zoo, and memorials such as Yi Sang-hwa's poem.
▲Daegu Art Power Plant
The Daegu Art Power Plant, formerly a cigarette factory, has been renovated and reborn as a space for artistic creation. Enjoy a wide variety of exhibitions, including not only Korean artists but also contemporary art by international artists. In addition to exhibitions focusing on Daegu's modern history, the park also features exhibitions showcasing the work of young artists, experimental projects, AI-related exhibitions, and art-related seminars and lectures. This diverse and in-depth program of exhibitions and performances has made it a platform for artistic exchange in Daegu. To further enhance its appeal to visitors, the park also features a dedicated family space (including a children's book reading area).
▲ Apsan Sunset Observation Deck
Newly opened in August 2020, the observatory's entrance is located near Apsan Laundry Park. It offers panoramic views of Daegu and the sunset from the heart of the city without having to climb a mountain. It features a 13-meter-tall circular observation tower and a 288-meter-high slope. The gently sloping design and the sky bridge connecting the observatory to the deck opened on July 1, 2022, making it a perfect walking experience for all ages.
