Tour Overview

Learn about the diverse aquatic ecosystems, try wearing a frog costume or canoeing, and collect aquatic plants for food

Cook your own food! Savor unique underwater delicacies

The ingredients for our dishes lie within this aquatic plant ecosystem. Find them! Follow our ecology instructor, hop on a canoe, don a frog costume, and journey through a fifty-year-old abandoned eel farm. Admire the lotus and water ferns swaying in the ripples. You might even encounter red-crested moorhens and the precious duckweed. Taiwan is rich in aquatic plants. Did you know that large-leaved fennel can repel mosquitoes, and houttuynia cordata is an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory herb? Carefully prepared, they're all delicious on the table. We can toss crisp, slightly salty water lilies into salads, or blend the fragrance of water basil into sweet pancakes. The unique flavor of aquatic plants will delight our taste buds with unexpected delights.

Through this activity, we can:
1. Learn about aquatic plants.
2. Learn about other creatures in ponds and wetlands, such as fish and waterfowl.
3. Understand where our food comes from and recognize our responsibility to nature.

SDGs we're working on:
SDG Target 2.5 - Maintain genetic diversity in food production

SDG Target 15.1 - Protect and restore terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems

SDG Target 15.5 - Conserve biodiversity and natural habitats
