While enjoying a refreshing stroll and phytoncides, you can also visit the Ecological Center to learn about the Guanwu Salamander, a national treasure and endemic to Taiwan. With your tour guide's professional ecological commentary, you'll have the opportunity to discover the rich diversity of this forest landscape, creating unforgettable travel memories.

-Attractions-

▲ Guanwu Villa ★ Silver-Rated Eco-Friendly Hotel ★
Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area offers distinct seasonal landscapes and is a great summer escape. Since the opening of the Dalu Forest Trail, its stunning scenery has attracted many visitors. To provide comprehensive travel services for Guanwu visitors, a restaurant and a shop are available. Furthermore, the Wushe cherry blossoms outside Guanwu Villa, with their beautiful white blossoms blooming every March, are among the most beautiful in Taiwan, adding a touch of beauty to the villa.

▲ Cypress Mountain Giant Trees Trail
Five thousand-year-old giant red cypress trees are hidden along the Clouds Deep Unknown Trail. Starting at the 6K observation deck entrance on the Leshan Forest Trail, you'll follow the wooden plank road, passing by Yushan arrow bamboo, Cryptomeria japonica, and post-logging secondary forest plants. Descending to the 1.2km mark, the resolute yet gentle Tree No. 5 stands tall. You'll then visit Trees No. 4, 3, 2, and 1, the only remaining representatives of the cypress family that survived the logging era. Following this, the gently sloping 2.8km Old Car Trail begins. Bask in the ever-changing misty mountain air at an altitude of 2,000 meters, and enjoy the refreshing cool air. Then, gaze at the looming Egongji Mountain and Five Finger Mountain. Endless flowers and plants await, including the habitat of the Guanwu Salamander. This journey is sure to be rewarding.

▲ Cloud and Mist Trail
Named Yulun Trail in the Atayal language (Yulun means "cloud and mist"), the trail begins at the outdoor viewing platform at the Guanwu Visitor Center and stretches approximately 846 meters, taking about 30 minutes round trip. The trail was once disturbed by forest fires, leaving a sunny, open area, making it the driest section of the Guanwu area. The flora features Taiwan pine, red-haired azalea, and ferns, representing trees, shrubs, and vascular plants, respectively. Fires are a natural phenomenon of forest succession. The Taiwan pine's ability to become a pioneer species after a fire is a testament to the wisdom of the mother tree. Its hard cones protect its seeds from the intense heat of the fire. Even if the mother tree does not survive, the next generation quickly gains a head start in full sun.
