Tour Overview

Gear-Free Camping Tour & Complete the Alangi Historic Trail - The Most Beautiful Coastline Trail

Come make friends at the tribe! Treat yourself to a Paiwan family feast and truly experience self-sufficient mountain life.

We welcome groups of 6 or more to choose their own date for a group tour. Please contact customer service or register the Activity Request Form and someone will contact you.

Have you ever been to the Alangi Historic Trail? This is Taiwan's last stretch of coastline without roads, and it was once a vital trading route. This tour, led by a Paiwan friend, includes a one-night stay at Gaoshi Tribe, a key hub on the trade route and the southernmost Paiwan tribe. Experience the self-sufficient lifestyle of the Paiwan, fishing and shrimping, grilling on stone slabs, and savoring traditional slow-food dishes. In the evening, we'll chat and listen to stories, offering an immersive experience in Paiwan tribal culture. Of course, we'll also provide comfortable camping, so you can recharge your batteries before completing your Alangi hike!

[Alangi Historic Trail - Langqiao Beinan Historic Trail Story]
This is Taiwan's only stretch of coastline without roads. 400 years ago, this ancient trail served as the route for the Taitung Beinan people to trade south with the Paiwan. The 200-kilometer trail is a journey through history. We arranged for a Paiwan friend to lead the group through Alangi and share the story of this ancient trail. It was incredibly engaging and informative, as if we were stepping back in time and learning about the lives of our ancestors.

[Traditional Paiwan Life Experience]
This immersive tribal experience authentically showcases the life of the Paiwan Gaoshi tribe. Participants will light a fire in the forest, grill meat on stone slabs, and even grill fish with salt, all while experiencing a life of self-sufficiency.

[Visiting a Friend's Home! Traditional Paiwan Family Dinner]
A traditional Paiwan farmhouse created by Paiwan friends. Here, we enjoyed a Paiwan-style dinner hosted by friends. The dinner included stone-grilled meat, fruits and vegetables grown on the farm, and Taiwanese sea bream from the farm's fish pond. Prepared in traditional ways, it showcased the flavors of the original dishes.

[Cultural Preservation Space Created by Returning Youth]
Located in the forest of Bashua, this natural environment was created by Paiwan friend Wenbin himself. Nestled along the stream, mosquitoes and insects are common in the forest. The Paiwan people use smoke from incense and fires to keep them away. The environment is relatively primitive and traditional, preserving the life of a Paiwan family. While cell phone signal is weak, it allows you to unwind and relax.

[Gearless Camping - No Camping Supplies Required]
Our camping experts will teach you how to easily set up a tent. We've also prepared easy-to-set-up tents. Join us as we work together, without worrying about how to set it up or how long it will take. With these 123 steps, you'll have your home ready for the night.

[Travel - Beach Cleaning - Reducing Plastic in Our Lives]
As we walk along the beautiful coast, we'll encounter a lot of marine debris. We hope to spend some time collecting recyclable items. While we won't be able to collect everything, we understand that marine debris isn't just a national issue; it's a global one. This experience will also encourage us to reflect on littering and reduce our use of plastic.

Travel Notes
[Registration Instructions]
. This tour is recommended for children aged 12 and over. If you bring children, please be aware that you are responsible for their safety and that the noise level at night does not disturb other guests. If you are concerned about your child's dietary needs, please inform us in advance.
. The minimum group size is 6 people. If this number is not met, the tour will be canceled. You may choose to reschedule or cancel the tour for a refund. We will notify you at least 7 days before departure. Please pay attention to email or phone notifications.
. If a guest leaves the group for personal reasons and is unable to meet up during the tour, no refund will be given.
. Rain, drizzling rain, and strong winds are normal during outdoor activities. All we need to do is prepare rain gear, waterproof clothing, and be prepared to accept them.
. If weather or other unforeseen circumstances affect the activity, the company reserves the right to adjust the activity time, itinerary, or even terminate the activity for safety reasons.

Outdoor activities require physical fitness and carry risks. Pregnant women and any medical conditions should disclose this information before registration. Please also conduct a self-assessment or consult your physician in advance. If a personal illness or accident occurs during the trip, we will assist with medical evacuation. However, any medical, legal, or insurance-related issues are your responsibility and are not the responsibility of the company.

[Camping Instructions]
"We practice traditional, old-school camping. Everyone works together to set up their tent. Under the guidance of our host guide, we enjoy the fun of setting up tents together and building bonds with each other. During our time in the tribe, we welcome everyone to join in the fun of building fires, barbecuing, and enjoying the outdoors. This is how we strive to bring everyone together, allowing them to exercise and interact with the local natural environment."

Camping equipment includes tents and sleeping mats. The camping area itself has thick mats, so we only provide folding eggshell sleeping mats for outdoor hiking. If you require an inflatable sleeping mat, please bring your own.

. Please bring your own sleeping bag, or you can rent one upon booking.

. Tent Arrangements: We typically offer five-person and three-person tents, which are arranged based on the number of people in each reservation. For example, two people can have their own tent, or three to five people can share one. However, due to limited availability of four- and five-person tents, please register early if you need to share a tent. If there are insufficient tents, we will split them into two- or three-person tents. Please note that arrangements are not guaranteed. If you are traveling with a group but booking separately, please inform customer service after completing your reservation so we can arrange it.

. Meals are primarily meat-based. If you are a vegetarian, please inform us in advance so we can prepare a vegetarian meal. We can accommodate vegetarian meals, but we cannot provide meat-free pots and utensils for a fully vegetarian setting.

. The campground provides hot water and hairdryers, allowing for warm showers (please bring your own shower gel and other toiletries). There's only one bathroom, so you'll have to queue for a shower. However, since our evening activity was a "Paiwan Slow Food Dinner," we were able to shower separately. Even if there were a lot of people, there was no need to worry.
