Stroll through the thousand-year-old red cypress trees of Simakus, a must-see secret spot

Spending the night in Simakus offers a different kind of romantic escape. Camp at the old tribe campground, gather around a flickering campfire under a sky filled with stars. Experience life in the mountains, with your private chef preparing delicious dishes and slowly immersing you in a different rhythm of life. The next morning, step into the giant forests brimming with phytoncide. Breathe in the fresh scent of cypress, guaranteed to be refreshing! No need to bring your own camping gear, so bring your own relaxation, slow down your pace, and enjoy a camping trip under the stars in Simakus!

[Moss World & Millennium Red Cypress Giant Trees: A Potential World Heritage Site]
Not only is this area home to extensive cypress forests, but only one percent of the world's forests are classified as cloud forests, an ecosystem where cypress trees thrive. Furthermore, Simakus boasts mosses and ferns, unique to rare forests. In Japan and New Zealand, natural heritage sites and national parks have been designated for mosses and ferns, and in Taiwan, Simakus has one.

[Enjoy the Mountains at a Slower Pace than Climbing]

Unlike the strenuous effort of mountaineering, strolling through the fog forest, which only remains in one percent of the world's reserves, Taiwan, nestled on the Pacific Bay, boasts high mountains and lies within the continental monsoon zone. This rare fog forest offers a relaxing stroll through the mountains, even more so than climbing a hundred peaks. Relax and enjoy the beauty that nature has bestowed upon Taiwan.

[Giant Tree Trail Reminder]

The Giant Tree Trail is a must-do when visiting Simakus. Visiting the 2,500-year-old YaYa giant tree, the round trip is approximately 11 kilometers. Please consider your fitness level; we allow 4.5 hours. For those who don't normally exercise, the trail may be tiring. Parts of the trail can be muddy in summer or after rain, so wearing comfortable walking or hiking shoes is recommended. Most people can complete the round trip within this timeframe. Don't worry if you don't want to complete the entire trail.

[Traditional Forest Campfire and Traditional Cooking]

We learned about traditional Atayal life in the mountains, enjoying a traditional dinner around a campfire in the tranquility of the forest.

[Seasonal Cuisine by a Private Outdoor Chef]

No need to prepare dinner, not even instant noodles, as we'll prepare a menu tailored to the season's needs. Each dish will be personally presented by the chef, allowing you to enjoy a satisfying meal while camping in the tranquil mountains. We strive to preserve the original flavors of the food, ensuring healthy meals.

[Gearless Camping - No Camping Gear Required]

We'll prepare your tent and sleeping mat, so you only need to bring your own sleeping bag, or you can rent one. We'll take care of everything for you; just bring your own toiletries, clothes, a small pillow, and dishes and cups, and you're ready to start your Simakus camping trip.

[Relaxing Camping Itinerary]
You may find the itinerary filled with breaks, such as exploring the tribe or resting at the campsite. We'll chop wood, light a campfire, and share tribal stories. This generous amount of free time allows you to take photos, enjoy the tribe, and immerse yourself in the comfort and tranquility of nature.

Environmental Protection: Please bring your own bowls, cutlery, and cups. We take environmental protection very seriously and strive to minimize littering in the campgrounds, minimizing any damage to the environment. When you join us, please remember to bring a small bag to take away any roadside trash and personal waste.

[Camping Instructions]
"We practice traditional, old-school camping. Everyone works together to set up their tent. Under the guidance of our host guide, we enjoy the fun of setting up tents together and building bonds. During our outdoor cooking time, you're welcome to join in the cooking and enjoy the outdoors. This is how we strive to bring everyone together to exercise and interact with the local natural environment."

Camping equipment includes tents and sleeping mats. The camping area itself has thick mats, so only folding eggshell sleeping mats for outdoor hiking are provided. If you require an inflatable sleeping mat, please bring your own.

. Please bring your own sleeping bag, or you can rent one upon booking.

. Tent Arrangements: We typically provide two- to three-person tents, each accommodating two people. This is based on the number of people registered for each reservation. If you are booking a group, you may be placed in a tent with a group of the same gender. Alternatively, you can choose to sleep in a separate tent at the time of booking. Children under 18 are not recommended to stay in separate tents. The organizer reserves the right to allocate tents, but will try to group groups together. If you are traveling together but booking separately, please inform customer service after completing your reservation so that we can arrange the meal.

. Most meals are meat-based. If you are a vegetarian, please inform us in advance so that we can prepare a vegetarian meal. We can accommodate vegetarian meals, but we cannot provide non-meat-safe cookware and cooking utensils for a fully vegetarian meal. The campground provides 24-hour hot water, allowing for warm showers (please bring your own shower gel and other toiletries). Electricity is available 24 hours a day, and hairdryers are provided.

If weather conditions permit and the group is physically fit, a hunter trail experience will be arranged. This is voluntary and requires an additional fee of NT$300 to be paid on-site.
