Tour Overview

Seasonal cuisine from a private chef under the Milky Way and gear-free camping for the lazy

\Seasonal limit/Registration is open from November to April of the following year with a limited number of applications

Seasonal! From November to April, enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Baculas, a canyon hidden only by canoe. In this secluded retreat, we'll learn from the indigenous tradition of picnicking using local ingredients and plants, incorporating our unique "wild cooking"—no-menu picnic meals. This Baculas camping tour is the ultimate in lazy camping! No camping gear required; just bring a small pillow and warm clothing for a soothing mountain life experience.

[Stunning Secluded Canyon - The Last Secret]

Located in the upper reaches of Taiwan's longest river, the Zhuoshui River, lies a secluded canyon that bears witness to the uplift of Taiwan's crust and the carving of its valleys. Known as Taiwan's last secret canyon, it's normally inaccessible by private transportation. To experience the stunning, world-class beauty of the Zhuoshui River, the canyon is only accessible by canoe during the dry season, from November to April. Following the upper reaches of Taiwan's longest river, the Zhuoshui River, you'll pass the spectacular Shicheng Valley, thousand-foot cliffs, and countless sharp bends and rapids. This area is also a renowned source of minerals, including dragon vein stone and black gallstone, offering a journey of wonder and adventure! A professional and experienced instructor is essential to glimpse this "untold secret of Taiwan."

[Lazy Camping & Private Cooking - No Tent Required]

As night falls, the sky is bathed in stars, and a campfire is lit, you can slowly enjoy a tasting menu of camping meals thoughtfully prepared by a private chef. You can cook together, grill bamboo rice and fresh ingredients, and listen to stories of the Bunun people. Despite all this, some people remain content, possessing a piece of land while cherishing a piece of land in their hearts.

[No-Stamina Canoeing]

After enjoying a warm, homemade breakfast the next morning, we took a car over the mountains to the uninhabited Baculas River, a place completely detached from the hustle and bustle of the city and known as a healing valley. Following a professional canoe guide, we paddled or rafted down the Zhuoshui River. The Zhuoshui River, known as the Mother River, produces over 60% of Taiwan's agricultural products. The journey took approximately four hours, covering over 10 kilometers. We paddled slowly through Taiwan's unique canyons. Lunch was served by the canyon, and freshening up after landing. This Baculas canoeing experience requires no physical effort or advanced canoeing skills.

[Experience Mountain Life]
We all got moving together. After lunch, we headed into the mountains and valley, gathering wood for the evening campfire, bamboo for the barbecue, and decorative slates before retiring to the tranquil, healing valley. Everything in the mountains offers a chance to disconnect from city life, lighten our burdens, and heal and relax our souls.

[Comfortable and Warm, No Worries About Winter Colds]

Don't worry about freezing during winter nights camping and enjoying water activities like canoeing. Follow our pre-trip packing guide and pack the right clothing to keep you cool at night. The low altitude at night means it won't be too cold, and a campfire will make it even more comfortable. When canoeing, we provide cold weather clothing, so you won't be afraid of getting wet. With complete professional equipment, enjoy the seasonal beauty of nature during Taiwan's winter.

[River Valley Canoeing Fun and Safety Tips]

First, don't worry about physical strength, difficulty, or fear.

This Bakulas canoeing trip uses inflatable canoes, perfect for streams. Unlike ocean paddling, which requires more effort, you'll need to learn how to control your direction and simply go with the flow. It's not as dangerous as whitewater rafting, though a bit thrilling, but very safe. It's unlikely to capsize unless you deliberately do so. Even if the boat capsizes, there is no need to worry, because the stream is shallow and there are life jackets. You can stand directly on the stream, which is about knee-high. This is why this activity can only be carried out during the dry season in winter.
