Boasting the "Five Wonders" of the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, the forest train, sacred trees, sea of clouds, sunrises, and cherry blossoms, it is Taiwan's most renowned and popular forest recreation area. A dazzling emerald gem amidst the Alishan Mountains, it shimmers with dazzling light.

Before dawn, arrive at Alishan Station and board the Zhushan Line Sunrise Train to watch the sunrise over Zhushan, Alishan (approximately 25 minutes). Zhushan Station is Taiwan's highest train station and a renowned spot for viewing sunrises and seas of clouds. A native Taiwanese mountain train, it makes you feel like you're in the clouds, a true photographer's paradise.

▲ Shuishan Giant Tree Trail
This scenic trail, reminiscent of a fairyland, stretches approximately 1.6 kilometers. The entrance is a five-minute walk from Zhaoping Station. Recently renovated, it's relatively untouched by tourists, resulting in a deserted, ethereal experience. The trail's name, "Shuishan Giant Tree," stems from the 2,700-year-old sacred red cypress tree at its terminus.

Alishan's highest landmark, the Alpine Botanical Garden, offers a unique and tranquil retreat, tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Open alongside the six-star Ogasawara Observatory, it offers panoramic views of Taiwan's three major mountain ranges (the Central Mountain Range, the Yushan Mountain Range, and the Alishan Mountain Range). You can even clearly see the peak of Yushan, Taiwan's highest peak, and even see the "Jade Mountain Thistle," a plant featured on the 1,000-yuan bill.

Danayi Valley, a hidden valley nestled in the mountains, is known as the "Forget Worry Valley." It boasts not only magnificent scenery but also a rich ecosystem thanks to ecological restoration efforts. This stunning setting is a perfect place for travelers to unwind and forget their worries. Besides admiring the suspension bridge and catching silver carp, you can also learn about Tsou culture and fishing. A walk through Danai Valley is like a beautiful mountain forest from a Hayao Miyazaki animation.
