- Attraction Introduction | Crown Coast: The Ultimate Sightseeing Spot | Keelung Heping Island and Old Town Two-Day Tour

▲Neiwan Old Street
Located in Hsinchu County, this area is primarily inhabited by Hakka people. Once a vital route to and from Jianshi Township, rich in forestry and mineral resources, it flourished in the 1950s but gradually declined with the decline of the forestry and mining industries. The traditional houses on Neiwan Old Street have garnered attention for their unique landscape. The nostalgic atmosphere of this old street, home to attractions like Neiwan Station, Neiwan Theater, and the Neiwan Suspension Bridge, has made it a popular tourist attraction in Hsinchu. Surrounded by mountains and enjoying a pleasant climate, Neiwan Old Street is filled with attractions, making a stroll through the area a truly memorable experience.

▲Heping Island Park
Heping Island is located at the northern end of Keelung Harbor, east of the harbor, and is now connected to the main island of Taiwan. Due to the constant northeast monsoon and the erosion of the waves, Heping Island has a unique natural landscape. Its subsidence coastline has also created numerous unusual rocks and unusual shorelines. Due to this unique landscape, the government has designated Heping Island Coastal Park. It comprises three main areas: a swimming pool, a unique rock formation, and a visitor center. Heping Island Park minimizes artificial structures to minimize damage to nature, cultivating this beautiful natural treasure with a commitment to preserving the natural ecosystem. It serves as a scenic natural learning center and a uniquely beautiful coastal secret in northern Taiwan.

▲Keelung Quanli Rice Fragrance
With health and naturalness as their top priority, they use high-quality, gentle canola oil throughout their products and do not use any preservatives, artificial colors, or flavors, ensuring everyone can enjoy the peace of mind of eating food cooked in their own kitchen.

▲Daxin Bakery
A 50-year-old Keelung restaurant, "Daxin" sounds like "daxin" in Taiwanese, meaning "caring." Founder Ah Tsung Chef insists on using "natural freshness," "real ingredients," and "handmade freshness," sharing the warm flavors of Daxin with heart and fillings. The shop's signature "Curry Meat Pie" boasts a unique texture and flavor developed through Ah Tsung's fifty years of pancake-making expertise. The secret lies in using Yilan pork hind leg, mixed with a signature curry, and then meticulously hand-stirred in five steps. The fragrant curry permeates the chewy chunks of meat, which are then paired with white bean filling. Each bite reveals layers of aroma and flavor, resonating with exquisite flavor.

▲ Keelung Fortress Headquarters
The Keelung Fortress Headquarters was a key military base in northern Taiwan during the Japanese colonial era. Established in 1896 by the Japanese army in Dashawan as the "Keelung Fortress Command Post," it was renamed the "Keelung Fortress Headquarters" in 1909 and served as the highest military command center in northern Taiwan during the Japanese occupation. In 1957, the Keelung Fortress Headquarters was disbanded and officially passed into history. In May 2010, it was designated a Keelung City Historic Site.
In October 2018, the Keelung City Cultural Affairs Bureau initiated the restoration and reuse of the Keelung Fortress Headquarters, a city-designated historic site, under the "Greater Keelung Historical Scene Reconstruction and Integration Project." Construction began in April 2020. The project includes the main building complex of the Fortress Headquarters and the Guangfu Barracks (formerly the Coast Guard Administration's barracks). With this, the military fortress was transformed from a military stronghold into a cultural fortress.

▲Haimen Natural Fortress and Ershawan Fort

Built during the Opium War of 1840 to prevent British invasion, it was rebuilt by Liu Mingchuan (Taiwan's first governor) after being damaged during the Sino-French War in 1884. Located on a mountain road near Ershawan, it earned the nickname "Ershawan Fort." The Haimen Natural Barrier was designed to suit the terrain. The East and North Forts guarded the outer and inner sea entrances, respectively. They were built on the higher hills facing the sea, while the lower area, facing the sea, served as the military camp. Cannons and ammunition depots can be seen within the fort area, while the military camp area contains several remnants of walls and a gate inscribed with the characters "Haimen Natural Barrier."

▲Jiufen Old Street

This old street in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, shot to fame thanks to the film "A City of Sadness," is one of Taiwan's most popular tourist attractions, attracting a constant stream of visitors year-round. Weekdays primarily feature foreign tourists from Japan, South Korea, and other countries, as well as visitors from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Holidays see a large number of Taiwanese tourists, making it a world-class tourist destination in northern Taiwan.

Jiufen, once rich in gold, was nicknamed the "Golden Mountain City." The settlement prospered with the influx of gold miners, but also fell into tranquility as the gold rush declined. In the late 1980s, the film "A City of Sadness" brought Jiufen's stunning mountain and seascapes, its retro architecture, and its unique hillside landscape to the big screen. Since then, this picturesque mountain town has captivated both domestic and international tourists. A visitor should definitely try taro balls, meatballs, and grass cakes—all classic Jiufen delicacies. There's also a dazzling array of charming antiques and unique Taiwanese souvenirs. If you have more time, explore the teahouses and theaters to soak in Jiufen's cultural charm, explore its winding alleys, and appreciate its beauty from a different perspective.
