A paradise for cat lovers – Tashirojima, also known as Miyagi Prefecture's Cat Island, is a cat island located in the Pacific Ocean near Ishinomaki City in Miyagi Prefecture, Tohoku. Over 130 cats live alongside the island's inhabitants. Because cats outnumber residents, it's also known as "Cat Island," attracting the attention of cat lovers. For cat lovers, the moment of playing with cats is pure bliss. Accessible only by speedboat or ferry.
The island boasts a cat shrine and small shops called "Island Station," allowing you to encounter the island's cats as you stroll. Tashirojima is a relaxing haven where many cats live comfortably. Why not enjoy a relaxing stroll around the island, enjoying the scenery, petting the cats, and taking photos?
Depart from JR Sendai Station to the ferry terminal at Ishinomaki Port.
From there, take the ferry to Tashirojima.
Disembark at Nitoda Port, head to the island, explore the island (approximately 120 minutes), and then board the island-leaving ferry at Ōdomari Port. After returning to Ishinomaki Port, take a bus back to Sendai City.

Travel Notes

The driver speaks Japanese. The minimum group size is 10. If the minimum group size is not met, the tour will be canceled and a cancellation notice will be sent 7 days before departure.

· Feeding the cats is not permitted.
· Cars are permitted on the island, so please be extremely careful when photographing from the road.
· The island is inhabited; please do not enter private residences or land.
· Getting around the island is primarily on foot; please proceed according to your physical strength.
· Please note that embarkation and disembarkation ports vary; do not mistakenly arrange ferry departure times.
· In the event of adverse weather conditions such as typhoons or snowstorms, cancellation will be determined one day before departure (7:00 PM local time) and will be notified by email at any time thereafter.
· If the ferry company cancels ferry services due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather, an email notification will be sent no later than 9:00 AM local time on the day of departure.
Please gather at the meeting point 5 minutes before departure time. If a passenger is separated from the group or cannot be gathered due to personal reasons, the company will not refund the fee.

Cancellation Clauses

Cancellations made 7 days prior to the start of the trip will receive a full refund.

Cancellations made 4-6 days (including the 6th day) prior to the start of the trip will incur a 30% handling fee.

Cancellations made 3 days (including the 3rd day) prior to the start of the trip will not receive a refund.

Cancellations made on the start date of the trip will not receive a refund.

If the event is affected by force majeure (e.g., typhoon warnings, heavy rain alerts, etc.), the organizer will determine whether to cancel the event. A full refund may be offered, or the participant may choose to reschedule the event.

Rescheduling requests due to personal reasons will be deemed cancellations and will be handled in accordance with the cancellation policy outlined above.

If participation is terminated due to reasons not attributable to the organizer, no refund will be given.
