Mountain and Sea Together ~ Snow Mountain Tail Ridge Hike | Gongliao Tamlan Historic Trail, New Taipei City

The Xueshan Mountain Range stretches from Sandiao Cape in Gongliao District, New Taipei City, northward from its northernmost peak, Laolan Mountain, all the way south. The "Xueshan Tail Ridge" is the tail of this ridge before it empties into the sea at the northeastern corner. Shicheng Mountain, located on the border of Toucheng Township, Yilan County, and Gongliao District, New Taipei City, is a peak on the tail ridge of the Xueshan Mountain Range. It stands out from the south exit of the old Caoling Tunnel. Along the way, you'll find tranquil ancient trails, pristine forests, lush grasslands, and rolling mountain ranges. Openings along the ridge offer panoramic views of the ocean and Guishan Island. In autumn, the scenery is diverse and varied, especially the silver flowers.

The trailhead is located on the coastal highway above the south exit of the old Caoling Tunnel. This trail forms the latter section of the Laoling Historic Trail, passing settlement ruins, the Shicheng Tudigong Temple, and silver grass saddles. The summit of Shicheng Mountain offers excellent views, offering panoramic views of Yinggeshi Mountain, Longlong Mountain, Laolan Mountain, and Fulong Mountain, as well as Fulong and Aodi in the distance, and the Shicheng coastline.

Blue Bay Seaside Recreation Park is one of the four coastal parks in the Northeast Coast Scenic Area, covering approximately 10 hectares. Take a shuttle bus within the park and follow the bicycle path from Yanliao to Longmen. The coastal flora and fauna along both sides are abundant, the scenery is pleasant, and you can also enjoy the vast Pacific Ocean. It is a relaxing trip suitable for all ages.
