▲ Dianguang Tribe Bamboo Cannon Experience
Located at the western foot of the Coastal Mountains, Dianguang Tribe is the site of the Hengchun Amis people's northward migration 150 years ago, settling in what is now Dianguang Village. Over 100 years ago, when the Qing army invaded this area, the local indigenous people fought back fiercely, using bamboo cannons to scare off the soldiers. Therefore, the sound of bamboo cannons not only bears witness to the tribe's past history, but now also serves as a symbol of welcome and blessing for visitors.

The small and adorable Bao Ma Canteen uses locally grown ingredients to create a feast for the senses. All ingredients are sourced locally, like the vegetables from the neighboring auntie or the cherry tomatoes from someone's grandmother's family. They are all fresh and pollution-free. Paired with the canteen's signature dishes, such as fermented rice wine pork trotters or scallion-fried chicken thighs, they are filled with a delicious taste of happiness.

Winemaking is a crucial activity for Amis women, so a visit to the Dianguang Tribe is a must-try experience. Yeast is an essential ingredient for winemaking, and it is handcrafted using ten fresh herbs using traditional tribal techniques. Add the crushed koji to glutinous rice, stir evenly, put it into a container and let it sit for three days, then you can brew a slightly sweet and intoxicating wine!
