The newly reopened Keelung Island boasts unique geology and a rich ecological landscape, earning it the nickname "Taiwan's Dragon Pearl." Its eastern side is dotted with cliffs, sheer cliffs, and sea caves, offering the best vantage points for admiring the scenery while cruising around the island. To protect the environment, Keelung Island limits the number of visitors to 1,200 per day. Bookings are especially difficult during summer holidays, so early reservations are recommended.

Walk along the coast of Keelung Island, passing the Tudigong Temple and Guanyin Cave, and discovering two hidden caves. The trail flanks a rich tapestry of native flora and fauna. Over 400 species of native plants and animals are found on the island, including seven endangered species named after Keelung Island, such as the Keelung lily and the Keelung chopstick mustard. The trail also boasts the annual "Lily of the Formosanum" blooms from April to May and the "Golden Lycoris" blooms from August to September, making it a must-see! On the other side of the trail, the seaside features bizarre rock formations, including Little Keelung Island and Little Elephant Trunk Rock, all worth exploring.

The trail consists primarily of wooden boardwalks and stairs, with a steep climb up 1,135 steps. The round trip takes just over an hour. Climbing to the summit offers a 360-degree view of the entire island. On a good day, you can even gaze out over the northern coastline of Taiwan's main island. You might even get a glimpse of Keelung Island's hidden gem, the "Keelung Sea Threshold." The trail culminates at the Keelung Island Lighthouse, Taiwan's first solar-powered lighthouse and a vital landmark on the sea. (The three-in-one route, which includes the ascent to the summit, the lighthouse, and the circumnavigation of the island, will allow for ample time.)
