Tour Overview

Visit Hehuan Mountain, the most accessible 3,000-meter mountain in the Central Mountain Range of central Taiwan

Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains and the ever-changing sea of clouds and forest boundaries from the top of the mountain

Climb up the steep Hehuanjian Mountain with your hands and feet to witness the remains of the Ice Age: Cirque Peak

This itinerary will fully capture the beauty of Taiwan's alpine landscape! Easily accessible by road, the Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area, nestled in the Central Mountain Range of central Taiwan, is the perfect starting point for exploring Taiwan's mountains. Visit Hehuan East Peak, Hehuanjian Mountain, and Shimen Mountain within the park, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the connected mountains. In spring and summer, admire the vibrant blooms of Hehuanshan's alpine azaleas along the way, their vibrant pink blossoms dotting the lush green forest. In autumn and winter, witness the ever-changing, dreamy mountain scenery shrouded by a sea of clouds!

Besides exploring the three accessible 100 Peaks of Taiwan, we'll also explore the Xiaoqilai Trail, located near the Hehuanshan Ski Resort. This trail nestles in the valley between Hehuanshan and Qilai Mountains. The trail ends at the Xiaoqilai Grassland, offering breathtaking views back toward Hehuanshan and across to the Qilai Peaks.

▲ Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area
Taiwan's first national forest recreation area, recognized for its unique scenery and alpine ecosystem. The park boasts numerous high peaks, including Hehuan Main Peak, Hehuan East Peak, Hehuan Jianshan, and Shimenshan. These peaks boast a rare coniferous forest exceeding 3,000 meters. The forest boundary, formed by the intersection of Taiwan fir forests and Yushan arrow bamboo, is truly unique. Ascending to the summit offers a rich ecosystem of alpine flora and fauna, awaiting your visit!

▲ Hehuan Jianshan

Hehuan Jianshan's unique shape was formed during the Ice Age by two or more adjacent glaciers carving out cirque peaks in different directions, creating a unique topography. Climbing to the summit from the south, the trail is primarily rocky and dirt, with jagged graystones and arrow bamboo fringing the path. Without the shade of towering trees, some sections require ropes and the use of both hands and feet for a truly unique climbing experience.

▲ Xiaoqilai Grassland

The Xiaoqilai Trail is the first section of the Qilai Mountain hiking trail. The path is relatively gentle, making it suitable for short hikes. At the trail's terminus, the Xiaoqilai Grassland, a vast expanse of green, undulating bamboo, offers the best vantage point for close-up views of the majestic black Qilai Mountain, a hidden gem unknown to most tourists.
