Tour Overview

Recreate traditional craftsmanship, learn how natural dyes are made, and experience the charm of traditional dyeing techniques

From planting indigo, harvesting indigo, beating indigo, and creating indigo, all the way to the indigo dyeing experience, Taiwan's natural colors tell the most beautiful story.

Discover the diverse possibilities of cooking with ingredients delivered directly from the source.

Unwind, slow down, and discover the untouched essence of nature at Zhuoye. This culinary experience incorporates environmental education: a natural dye plant can be used to dye fabrics and simmer in dishes. Through hands-on instruction and hands-on cooking, you'll learn about land-friendly farming practices and cultivate culinary concepts such as local production and consumption, natural processing, and sustainable cooking. This highly educational experience is a cultural and ecological journey that both adults and children can enjoy. It's recommended to stay at Zhuoye's unique homestay the day before the event to allow for a more relaxed rural kitchen experience.

- Farm Introduction | Zhuoye's Homestay in Miaoli -
Zhuoye's Homestay, a secluded place shrouded in mist, was inspired by an owl to settle down and cultivate the land. It feels like a forgotten paradise in the mountains, and within it, you'll feel like you've rediscovered the warmth of a small farming village. The farm offers a rare opportunity to DIY hand-dyed fabrics, and the unique barn-style homestay in Taiwan adds a touch of sophistication to your stay. The restaurant offers creative, off-menu cuisine and has been voted one of Taiwan's top ten restaurants with unique views online. Its own vegetable garden is also incredibly healthy and nourishing!

▲ Special Ingredient - Indigo
When Zhuoye Workshop first built its indigo dye vats, they stirred them diligently daily. In good weather, the dye quickly fermented, and bright blue foam appeared on the surface. A spoon was then used to scoop the blue bubbles into a large white porcelain dish. After a few days, the blue bubbles crystallized into a powder, revealing the purest indigo. Once collected in a jar, the indigo can be used not only as a cooling and antipyretic herbal remedy but also as a food dye.

- Lustful Cuisine | Miaoli Zhuoye's Lustful Kitchen -

1. Turmeric/Indigo/Beetroot Healthy Noodle Soup: Using homemade, naturally dyed three-color noodles, visitors are guided through making their own healthy mushroom soup, paired with Sichuan-style boiled noodles and local green vegetables for a healthy and nutritious meal. 2. Pearl Vegetable Roll: Add green, fiber-rich vegetables like pearlweed to an egg mixture, then use a frying pan to create a green crepe-like crust. Then, fill it with farm-made sauerkraut, jicama, sesame seeds, and mushroom floss, then roll it into a vegetable egg roll. This is a fun and colorful natural dish.

3. Colorful Rice Cake Ice: Using natural plant dyes, the simple rice cake becomes something extraordinary. Add ice cream and other condiments to create a colorful ice cream bowl.
