Tour Overview

Visit one of Japan's most important cultural heritage sites, the Kimono Museum

You can see a variety of kimono styles, and even the royal kimono is on display.

Through the exhibition, the world can see the beauty of Japanese kimono

When it comes to Japanese kimonos, a visit to the Ome Kimono Museum in Tokyo is a must-see. Over 500 kimonos, each with its own unique style, are on display, changing with the seasons. You can even see kimonos worn by the emperor upon his enthronement, offering a glimpse into the history of the kimono. Beyond the kimonos, the building itself is a testament to history. Built from an expanded warehouse over 200 years old, the museum allows you to experience the kimonos while also deeply immersing yourself in the past.

- Museum Introduction | Ome Kimono Museum-

▲Ome Kimono Museum
The Ome Kimono Museum focuses on kimonos. Not only does it boast over 500 items, but its exhibits also change seasonally. Built from an expanded warehouse over 200 years old, the museum itself exudes a sense of history. A must-see at the Ome Museum is the permanent display of imperial kimonos. In Japan, there are not many places where you can see kimonos worn by the imperial family.

The Ome Museum's permanent exhibition features the kimono worn by Lady Nashimoto Ryōgō during Emperor Taisho's enthronement ceremony. Seeing it firsthand will surely allow you to appreciate the beauty of the kimono, a traditional Japanese garment. Other exhibits offer a chance to experience the joy of wearing kimonos, including kimonos worn by samurai women and kimonos with different patterns for different seasons.
