Located in the Uminonakamichi area of Fukuoka, adjacent to Uminonakamichi Seaside Park and Shika Island, the aquarium reopened on April 12, 2017, after nearly 30 years of operation. The three-story building is divided into 10 smaller venues, each with its own unique character. All of Kyushu's prefectures are connected by the sea, and the unique marine life of each region is recreated in aquariums. The Kyushu Outer Ocean Tank, for example, is 7 meters deep and 24 meters wide. In the jellyfish exhibition hall at Marine World Uminonakamichi Aquarium, light and sound blend seamlessly to create a magical world of jellyfish, allowing you to forget your daily routines and immerse yourself in the slow flow of time and the rhythm of a leisurely pace. Marine World Uminonakamichi Aquarium also offers close encounters with penguins, sea lions, and seals, all captivating their charming appearances. A must-see at Marine World Uminonakamichi Aquarium is the dolphin and sea lion show, held 3-5 times daily in a venue that can accommodate 2,000 people. – Marine World Uminonakamichi Aquarium is open from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM from March to November, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM from December to February, from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM during Golden Week, from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM during summer vacation, and from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Christmas Day. Please check the official website before your visit.
– Infants under 4 years old are free to enter Marine World Uminonakamichi Aquarium.
– Last admission to Marine World Uminonakamichi Aquarium is one hour before closing time.

Getting There

From JR Hakata Station: Take the Kagoshima Main Line (going up) to Kashii Station (11 minutes). Transfer to the JR Kashii Line (bound for Nishi-Tozaki) and arrive at Uminonakamichi Station (20 minutes).

From Tenjin Station by Subway: Take Subway Line 2 to Kaizuka Station (12 minutes). Transfer to the Nishitetsu Kaizuka Line to Washiro Station (18 minutes). Transfer to the JR Kashii Line (bound for Nishi-Tozaki) and arrive at Uminonakamichi Station (12 minutes).

From Tenjin by Bus: Take Bus No. 21A or No. 21 from Tenjin Central Post Office (Bus Stop 18A) to Uminonakamichi Station (approximately 60 minutes).
