▲Amanohashidate
Amanohashidate is a scenic spot located in northern Kyoto Prefecture. Across a 3.6-kilometer-long sandbar separating the Sea of Japan's Aso Sea from Miyazu Bay, a row of approximately 8,000 pine trees stretches uninterrupted. It's designated one of Japan's Three Most Scenic Spots, along with Matsushima and Miyajima.

There are two legends about how it got its name: Amanohashidate. One says that standing on the hills between Hiryukan (Flying Dragon Temple) at the southern end of the sandbar and Kasamatsu Park (Sansho Park) at the northern end, bending down and looking backwards from below, the long sandbar resembled a bridge extending diagonally toward the sky, giving it the name. Another story goes that the god Izanagi constructed a large floating bridge in the sky to provide easy access to the abode of the goddess Izanami. One day, Izanami stayed overnight on earth, and the bridge unexpectedly collapsed, causing it to fall to the human world. This is what is now Amanohashidate.

Located on the Tango Peninsula north of Kyoto, Ine is a small, tranquil fishing village nestled along the waterfront of Ine Bay, stretching for nearly 5 kilometers. Its lush green mountains and clear waters create a picturesque environment, earning it the distinction of being one of Japan's 18 most beautiful villages. The village's most distinctive feature is its over 230 ancient funaya (houses) dating back to the Edo period, long since extinct along other Japanese coasts. You can take a boat tour here and admire the unique local architecture along the way. You can also buy a bag of shrimp snacks on the boat to feed the seagulls!
