Kumiya Shrine is currently one of Japan's most popular "power spots." Within the shrine grounds lies a large camphor tree, one of Japan's three largest camphor trees. The main attraction is the legendary "Okakusu Tree," a sacred tree said to grant unspoken wishes by circumambulating its trunk, and extending one's lifespan by one year. With a trunk diameter of approximately 24 meters and over 2,000 years old, the tree was recognized as the second largest tree in Japan by a 1992 survey by the Ministry of the Environment and has been designated a National Natural Monument.
