The Xie family's koi tuna are raised in stages, and they're fed asparagus weekly. At four or five months old, they were handed over to a farm. The family's 1,500-ping (approximately 1,500 ping) pond was used to raise and cultivate the chub. However, in 2004, a widespread disease outbreak caused the industry to decline, and the chub went from an annual profit of over 10 million yuan to a loss of tens of millions. Two years ago, it rebounded from its low point. Xie Zhengzuo, the second son, who graduated with a master's degree in fishery science, decided to return home and work with his eldest son, Xie Zhengyang, to transform the aquaculture industry.

Erge Xie Zhengyang learned aquaculture techniques from southern Taiwan and experimented with grouper farming nearby. Younger brother Xie Zhengzuo converted some of the abandoned ponds to white shrimp farming and transformed the former fish processing and cooking room into the Dafu Fisherman's Story Museum, where professional aquaculture experts provide in-depth and concise introductions to aquaculture. This has driven the transformation of the local aquaculture industry and revitalized previously abandoned sites.
