Enjoy a relaxing Hokkaido icebreaker trip with a bus transfer throughout the trip

Experience five stunning winter-only sights amidst the silvery white of Hokkaido! This tour takes you aboard the icebreaker "Orora" to traverse the drift ice, step onto the frozen surface of Lake Akan, admire the dancing red-crowned cranes, and stay at a popular hot spring ryokan and the dreamy Hoshinoya Resort "TOMAMU." Combining natural wonders with comfortable accommodations, this itinerary allows travelers to fully experience the romance of Hokkaido's winter.

- About the Itinerary | Hokkaido's Five Stunning Winter Scenery Tour |

Highlights
▲ Ride the drift icebreaker "Orora" and traverse the vast expanse of drift ice fields.

▲ Visit Tsurumidai to observe red-crowned cranes and capture precious wildlife moments.

▲ Stroll across the frozen Lake Akan and experience the wonders of the ice, a winter-only spectacle.

▲ Stay at a hot spring hotel in Lake Abashiri and Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU for a luxurious stay.

▲ Visit the dreamy "Ice Village" and "Mist Ice Terrace" at night to experience the ultimate romance of a Hokkaido winter night.

▲ Drift icebreaker "Orora"
The winter-only icebreaker "Orora" sails the waters of Abashiri, guiding travelers through the ice-covered Sea of Okhotsk. The boat's hull breaks through the thick white drift ice, emitting a deep roar that brings you up close to the power and awe of nature. From the deck, the vast expanse of ice and the azure sky intertwine to create a magnificent spectacle. With luck, you might even spot seals or seabirds nesting among them.

A friendly reminder: Drift ice is a natural phenomenon and may not be visible depending on weather, currents, and wind direction. However, flights will continue to operate as usual. Thank you for your understanding.

▲ Lake Akan
Lake Akan, located in Eastern Hokkaido, freezes completely in winter, transforming into a shimmering ice field. Visitors can stroll and take photos on the lake, feeling as if they were walking on a transparent mirror. This fleeting spectacle, only available once a year, is surrounded by mountains and the snowy landscape is picturesque. Ice festivals and fireworks displays often take place on the lakeside at night, adding to the dazzling beauty of the winter nights.

Highlight: Stepping onto the frozen lake to take photos and admire the pristine white snowfield is a truly magical experience at Lake Akan in winter.

▲ Tsurumidai
Tsurumidai, located in the Kushiro Wetlands, is a prime habitat for Japan's national treasure, the red-crowned crane. Every winter, large numbers of cranes flock to the area in search of warmth and food, creating a spectacular natural spectacle. From the observation deck, guests can admire their graceful movements and soaring wings.

Please note: Red-crowned cranes are wild animals, so in poor weather or due to changes in migration patterns, you may not be able to see them.

▲ Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU The Tower
Spend your second night at the dreamy Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU, enjoying a luxurious resort atmosphere surrounded by snowy scenery. Guests can use a 2,500 yen meal voucher to dine at a restaurant of their choice within the resort. In the evening, visit the winter-only "Ice Village" to admire a magical town made of ice and snow, enjoy ice desserts and drinks, and watch a fireworks display (weather permitting).
Friendly reminder: Temperatures can reach as low as -30°C, so please prepare warm clothing.

▲ Ice Terrace (Unkai Gondola)
Take the Unkai Gondola to the Ice Terrace early in the morning and admire the dreamlike scenery of mist and ice crystals intertwined from high above. Gazing at the intertwined landscape of snow-capped mountains and a sea of clouds, it feels like stepping into a fairytale. This is one of TOMAMU's most iconic winter experiences.
Friendly reminder: Ice frost is a natural phenomenon. In bad weather or strong winds, the gondola may be suspended. No refunds or replacement tickets will be offered in the event of a suspension.
