Daejeon, located in central South Korea and the fifth largest city in the country, is a major technology hub, with numerous scientific research projects taking place in Daejeon. It is known as Korea's Silicon Valley. Daejeon hosted the 1993 World Expo, and the original site is now the World Expo Park. Many iconic World Expo structures, such as the Gwangmyeong Tower and the World Expo Bridge, remain within the Expo Park. The Daejeon City Government has designated EXPO Science Park, Yuseong Hot Springs, the autumn leaves of Gubongsan Mountain, Jangtaesan Recreational Forest, Daecheong Lake, Jejusan Mountain, Sikjangsan Mountain, and Bomunsan Mountain as one of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Daejeon."

#1 EXPO Science Park
EXPO Science Park was built by Daejeon City for the 1993 World Expo. The park features facilities such as the National Science Museum of Korea, the Global Museum, an amusement park, and an observation tower. The vast park area means it never feels crowded even when crowded. The museums showcase a wide variety of scientific discoveries, making it a perfect park for both children and adults!

#2 Hanguang Tower
Located in EXPO Science Park, Hanguang Tower resembles a rocket about to take off from any angle. It was a key feature of Daejeon's World Expo architecture. Standing approximately 93 meters tall, Hanguang stands for "the hope of using the wisdom of the past to illuminate Korea's present and future." The Hanguang Tower's observatory offers a paid admission fee, offering a panoramic view of all the buildings within EXPO Science Park!

#3 Daejeon Culture and Arts Complex
The Daejeon Culture and Arts Complex is home to representative Korean art centers, including the Daejeon Culture and Arts Center, the Daejeon Museum of Art, and the Lee Eung-ro Museum of Art, as well as architectural works by renowned designers. The fountains lining the paths complement these elegant buildings, creating a breathtaking scene in Daejeon. The first episode of the 2015 hit Korean drama "She Was Pretty" was filmed at the Daejeon Culture and Arts Center!

#4 Daecheong Lake
Daecheong Lake is an artificial lake. Construction began in 1975 and was completed in 1980. It provides drinking water and other water resources for the Daejeon and Cheongju areas, making it arguably central South Korea's most important water resource. Besides being a daily necessity, Daecheong Lake is also a popular outing destination for Daejeon residents. The lush greenery surrounding the lake makes it hard to forget Daejeon's vibrant science-filled city!
