Before dawn, head to Alishan Station to catch the Zhushan Line train to watch the Alishan sunrise (approximately 25 minutes).
Zhushan Station is Taiwan's highest train station and a renowned spot for viewing the sunrise and sea of clouds. It's also home to a Taiwanese-developed high-altitude train that makes you feel like you're in the clouds, a true photographer's paradise. (Train departure times vary seasonally.)

▲ Water Mountain Giant Tree Trail
This scenic trail, reminiscent of a fairyland, stretches approximately 1.6 kilometers. The entrance is a five-minute walk from Zhaoping Station. Recently renovated, it's relatively uninformed, creating a tranquil and ethereal experience. The trail's name, "Water Mountain Giant Tree," stems from the 2,700-year-old sacred red cypress tree at its terminus. (Roundtrip, approximately 1.5 hours.)

Arrive at Lalu Island and enjoy the Thao cultural display → Stroll through Xuanguang Temple → Visit the Thao scenic shopping district at Dehuashe Pier. The Thao Cultural Village offers visitors a glimpse into Thao traditional culture and dance. → Return to Huishuishe Pier for a breathtaking view of Sun Moon Lake. The mirror-like surface of the water reflects the misty mountains, creating a breathtaking scenery. The internationally renowned grassland sheep herding show takes place here. Surrounded by mountains, Green Grassland is a vast expanse, home to herds of cattle and sheep, creating a tranquil and serene Nordic countryside. Strolling along the Green Grassland wooden boardwalk offers sweeping views of the pasture, accompanied by a gentle breeze and the faint fragrance of grass.

Visiting the Cingjing High-Altitude Scenic Trail, a 2,000-step walk at an altitude of 1,700 meters offers a unique experience. The 1.2-kilometer Cingjing Skywalk connects the old trail from the Cingjing National Guest House to the Nanpiaokou entrance of the Green Grassland. Designed to be friendly to the natural environment and landscape, the trail features a hidden elevated structure, leaving the roadway, crossing the grassland, and weaving through the treetops. This "elevated aerial trail" offers expansive views, allowing visitors to hike safely while admiring sheep grazing on the green grass and wild birds soaring through the treetops. Six viewing platforms are located along the way, allowing visitors to pause and enjoy the cool breeze, overlooking the Central Mountain Range, the Zhuoshui River Valley, and the clearer blue sky compared to the plains.
