The Liyutan SUP/Canoeing Experience is located in the Liyutan Scenic Area in the Hualien-Taitung Valley. The waters of Liyutan Lake, originating from a spring at the lake's center, are clear and stable, making them ideal for SUP and canoeing. Surrounded by Liyu Mountain, the mountain scenery is reflected in the lake's surface like a mirror. We'll paddle directly into the lake, allowing you to admire the interplay of mountain and lake scenery up close. The tranquil and relaxing environment offers not only the most beautiful vantage points but also makes it a perfect route for beginners of SUP and canoeing. Liyutan SUP allows you to paddle sitting, lying down, standing, or even prone. The comprehensive equipment and professional, reliable instructors, combined with the relatively calm waters of Liyutan, make it ideal for beginners. During the activity, your instructor will assist with photography, allowing you to capture both the beautiful scenery and your SUP/canoeing experience for years to come.

▲ Liyu Lake
Liyu Lake is the largest inland lake in Hualien County. Surrounded by mountains, it is less affected by the northeast monsoon in autumn and winter, making it a year-round destination. It stretches 1.6 kilometers from north to south, approximately 930 meters from east to west, and covers an area of approximately 104 hectares. The lake's deepest point reaches 15 meters, remaining crystal clear year-round. Its waters, originating from the center of the lake, are a key feature of Liyu Lake.

Originally known as "Dabei" by locals and "Banao" by the Amis, Liyu Lake was named after the nearby Carp Mountain. It was named Liyu Lake, a renowned scenic spot even in its early days.

Travel Notes

Hualien Liyu Lake SUP/canoeing activities are suitable for people aged 3 to 70.

Kayaking is primarily arranged as two people per boat. SUP boats can be arranged as two people per board, or a single person per board can be purchased for a more comfortable paddling experience. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a parent.

Please inform us of any medical conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, or asthma before participating and assess your health. Pregnant women are not permitted.

Hot water showers are available at the Liyu Lake Management Station. Please register at the Tanbei Management Station. (Currently, due to construction at the Tanbei Pier, the activity has been moved to the Tannan area, where there are no restrooms.)

Life jackets are provided during the Liyu Lake SUP/canoeing experience, so non-swimmers can enjoy the fun.

If you are traveling with a pet, you must provide a life jacket and confirm that your pet is water-resistant. No water access is permitted without a life jacket. Please select the number of pets you will be traveling with during your reservation so we can arrange arrangements on-site.

If you are traveling with a pet, each pet will be assigned a board. Small to medium-sized dogs (weight limit: 20 kg or less) are recommended.

In cold weather, warm clothing will be provided on-site.

Please arrive early and on time. Latecomers will not be accommodated in the water and will not receive a refund.

In the event of moderate rainfall, all activities at Liyu Lake will proceed as scheduled. However, in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms, activities may be adjusted or cancelled. Please follow the instructor's instructions.

For open water safety, activities are group activities. Please do not leave the group without permission to avoid regrets.

During the Liyu Lake water activities, please follow the instructions of the instructor and avoid any dangerous maneuvers.

During the Liyu Lake activity, if you are unable to complete the itinerary due to personal reasons (e.g., physical condition), you will be responsible for any expenses incurred. Fees for the unfinished activity will be considered a forfeit and non-refundable.

If the instructor cancels the activity due to sudden changes in wind and sea conditions or unexpected events on the day of the activity, you can postpone the activity free of charge or receive a refund minus a NT$150 per person administrative insurance fee.

Photos taken during the activity will be posted on our Facebook page and Instagram. Participants must consent to the use of their likeness during the activity, and our company reserves the right to use them free of charge.

Cancellation Clauses

Cancellations made 15 days prior to the start of the trip will incur a 10% handling fee.

Cancellations made 8-14 days (including the 8th day) prior to the start of the trip will incur a 30% handling fee.

Cancellations made 1-7 days (including the 7th day) prior to the start of the trip will not be refunded.

Cancellations made on the day of the trip will not be refunded.

If the event is affected by force majeure (e.g., typhoon warnings, heavy rain alerts, etc.), the organizer will determine whether to cancel the event. A refund will be issued to the original payment method after deducting necessary expenses.

If rescheduling is required due to personal reasons, advance notice is required. One rescheduling is permitted. After rescheduling, no cancellations or refunds will be accepted for any reason (including wind and waves, epidemics, etc.).

Rescheduling will not be accepted within 7 days of the event. Failure to request a cancellation before the deadline will be deemed a cancellation and will be handled in accordance with the above cancellation policy.

If you cancel your participation during the event due to reasons not attributable to the organizer, no refunds will be given.
