Kimchi making DIY, it’s the most fun to do it yourself

Tongren Market: Buy snacks with ancient coins, delicious and fun

A great way to learn about Korean culture—learn kimchi making firsthand. A professional kimchi-making instructor will teach you how to make your own pickled kimchi. Exploring a foreign culture through food is a fantastic travel experience. While this itinerary emphasizes kimchi-making, it also covers Seoul's must-see attractions, including Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Samcheong-dong, and Insa-dong—places you'll want to visit on your first visit to Seoul. Lunch will be at Tongin Market, where you can purchase your meal using ancient copper coins. Choose your favorite!

– About the Attractions | Seoul Kimchi-Making Experience Day Tour –

▲ Gyeongbokgung Palace
Gyeongbokgung Palace was built in 1395 by the order of King Taejo Yi Seong-gye. It is the largest and most beautiful of the five major palaces. Gyeonghoeru and Hyangwonjeong Lotus Pond, two of the most iconic structures of Joseon, retain their original appearance. The Geunjeongjeon Woldai (the wide platform in front of the main hall of the palace) and its stone carvings are also representative examples of the sculpture art of the time.

▲ Bukchon Hanok Village
Bukchon has long been known as the residential area of the yangban aristocracy. Its residences, all tiled roofs from the Joseon Dynasty, retain the architectural style of the upper class to this day. Located between Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and Jongmyo Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village is a residential area that has shared Seoul's 600-year history.

▲ Tongin Market
Originally established in 1941 during the Japanese colonial period near Hyoja-dong, the public market began as a public market. Following the Korean War, the rapid population growth in Seochon led to a demand for more consumer space, and the public market became a hub for street vendors and businesses, gradually evolving into a street vendor-style market. Tongin Market comprises 75 businesses, with the majority being restaurants, side dish vendors, and other food-related establishments, followed by fresh produce such as vegetables, fruits, and seafood.

▲Samcheong-dong
Legend has it that the name Samcheong-dong comes from the Three Pure Ones: pure mountains, pure waters, and pure hearts. Another theory is that it comes from the Samcheongjeon Temple, a Taoist temple dedicated to the three deities of Taecheong, Sangcheong, and Okcheong. Samcheong-dong's streets blend the traditional beauty of quaint Korean houses with the modern charm of galleries and cafes, creating a unique and eclectic atmosphere. Quiet trails, galleries, museums, and antique shops nestled within its alleyways imbue the area with a rich cultural atmosphere.

▲Insa-dong
Insa-dong's central main street is punctuated by a maze of alleyways, lined with galleries, traditional craft shops, antique art stores, traditional teahouses, traditional restaurants, and cafes. Each shop boasts its own unique charm. Galleries are the core of Insa-dong's lifespan, with over 100 galleries clustered nearby, showcasing a variety of Korean paintings, woodcuts, and sculptures.
