– About the Attractions | One-Day Tour of Ancient Capital Gyeongju –

▲Bulguksa Temple
Located on the slopes of Tohamsan Mountain, known as the "cloud-swallowing mountain," Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto are the heart of the splendid Silla Buddhist culture. Legend has it that over 1,400 years ago, King Beopheung of Silla built the temple at the behest of his mother, seeking peace and prosperity for the nation.

▲Cheomseongdae
Cheomseongdae is the oldest surviving observatory in the East. Built during the reign of Queen Seondeok, the 27th king of Silla, it was used to observe clouds and constellations in the sky. 362 stones were used to build the observatory, symbolizing the number of days in a year.

▲Cheonmachong (Daereungwon)
Cheonmachong, an ancient tomb excavated in 1973, is a unique Silla stone-stacked wooden coffin tomb.

▲Gyeongju Gyochon
Gyeongju Gyochon is a hanok village built by the city of Gyeongju. It offers educational and hands-on experiences by allowing visitors to explore the past living quarters of the Choi family.

▲Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond
Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond were detached palaces from the Silla royal palace. Along with its annexes, the Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond were once the residence of the crown prince and heir apparent. Celebrations were often held here. Following the fall of Silla, during the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties, this area fell into ruins and became known as the "Anapji Pond." In the 1980s, the discovery of pottery fragments with the inscription "Moon Pond" reaffirmed that the name "Moon Pond" originally meant "a pond reflecting the moon."
