The Zhiben Forest Trail, located near Zhiben Hot Springs in Taitung, is a low-altitude secondary forest with a rich flora and fauna. Along the trail, trees such as paper mulberry, taro, Taiwan waxwood, Moluccan acacia, acacia, jacaranda, and various figs interspersed. This diverse vegetation fosters a diverse animal ecosystem. Insects include the Taiwan White-striped Swallowtail, the Green-spotted Swallowtail, the Red-spotted Butterfly, the Black-spotted White-spotted Butterfly, the Yellow-spotted Purple-spotted Butterfly, the Blue-spotted Butterfly, the Rhinoceros Beetle, the Stag Beetle, the Taiwan Giant Locust, and other grasshoppers.

At night, you might see the large, round eyes of muntjacs or sambar deer twinkling through the forest grass. You might also witness the dreamy golden sea of fireflies. Follow local experts and interact and observe the animals of nature in an environmentally respectful way. Nothing beats experiencing it firsthand!

Travel Notes

Due to the relatively pristine environment, the Zhiben Forest Trail nighttime ecological exploration activity is suitable for children aged 7 and above, and parents must accompany them at all times.

After meeting in Taitung City, you will need to drive to the Zhiben Forest Trail observation point (motorcycles are not recommended).

If requested, round-trip transportation from Zhiben Station to Zhiben Forest Trail can be purchased.

Because the animals being observed are wild animals, their appearance times and locations are unpredictable, so there is no guarantee that you will see any animals on the day of the activity.

Cancellation Clauses

Cancellations made 31 days prior to the start of the trip will receive a full refund.

Cancellations made 4-30 days (including the 30th day) prior to the start of the trip will incur a 30% handling fee.

Cancellations made 1-3 days (including the 3rd day) prior to the start of the trip will not receive a refund.

Cancellations made on the day of the trip will not receive a refund.

If the event is affected by force majeure (e.g., typhoon warnings, heavy rain alerts, etc.), the organizer will determine whether to cancel the event. A refund will be issued to the original payment method after deducting necessary expenses.

Rescheduling requests due to personal reasons will be deemed cancellations and will be handled in accordance with the cancellation policy outlined above.

If participation in the event is terminated due to reasons not attributable to the organizer, no refund will be given.

Getting There

Please meet at the 7-ELEVEN Zhiben store and drive to the Zhiben Forest Trail (motorcycles are not recommended). Transportation from Zhiben Train Station is available upon request.
