Komagatake; Onuma and Konuma Quasi-National Parks, one of Japan's New Three Scenic Spots; the night view of Mt. A collection of must-see Hokkaido attractions. As the cherry blossoms reach full bloom, the moss phlox also compete for beauty. Shibazakura (moss phlox) isn't actually a type of cherry blossom; it's a small, underground flower belonging to the herbaceous family. Its flowering season follows the cherry blossoms, blanketing the grassy plains in full bloom. "Shiba" means grass, and its similarity to cherry blossoms in color and form gives it the name "shibazakura." Shibazakura is drought- and cold-tolerant, with a long bloom period, typically lasting one to two months. In the Furano and Biei regions, vibrant flower fields and contrasting rice paddies dot the vast, beautiful hills. Located in the heart of Hokkaido, Furano boasts a tranquil and peaceful landscape of wildflowers adorning the hills and fields, complemented by grazing dairy cows. The pastures are a tranquil spectacle, evoking a sense of paradise. Every year, starting in mid-April, a dazzling display of flowers paints the vast landscape beneath the blue sky: lavender, sunflowers, daisies, poppies, and more, weave a vibrant rainbow across the landscape. Summer in Hokkaido promises an unforgettable and relaxing vacation. Shikotsu-Toya National Park—★ Lake Toya. Showa Shinzan. In the center of the lake are Nakajima, Kannonjima, Manjujima, and Namitejima, offering a habitat for wild birds! From there, you can overlook Mount Yotei, resembling Mount Fuji, its peak capped year-round with snow. This breathtaking mountain, also known as Ezo Fuji, is also known as Ezo Fuji. Afterward, visit Showa Shinzan, formed in 1949 by a devastating earthquake and 18 consecutive eruptions within a year. Standing at 407 meters, this active volcano still wisps of smoke from its summit. Onuma-Onumu Quasi-National Park, comprising 126 small and large islands and 32 bays. Located north of Hakodate, Onuma-Onumu Quasi-National Park comprises 126 small and large islands and 32 bays. Surrounding it are three alpine lakes: Onuma, Onumu, and Sennanuma, as well as Mount Komagatake, creating a breathtaking, European-inspired landscape. Take a leisurely stroll through the lakeside cherry blossom grove, gazing out at the majestic, galloping volcano of Mount Komagatake. ▲ The night view of Mount Hakodate, one of the world's three most beautiful night views, is worth a million dollars. Ascend to the mountaintop observatory and admire the million-dollar night view of Hakodate, ranked alongside Hong Kong and Naples as one of the world's three most beautiful night views. Mount Hakodate's night view is one of the world's most renowned sights. At night, the fishing boats create a dreamlike spectacle of fishing lights on the sea, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene. ▲ Japan's First Western-Style Castle—Goryokaku. Hakodate's most beautiful star is undoubtedly Goryokaku Park. Goryokaku was built during the Edo period and was the first castle in Japan to be constructed in Western architectural style. Its primary purpose, of course, was defense. Hokkaido boasts a distinct seasonal change. The vibrant colors of spring, summer, autumn maples, and winter snows are all particularly striking in Goryokaku Park. While "Goryokaku" originally referred to the five-pointed star-shaped castle, not the actual name of the castle, it is widely known and has been designated a Special Historic Site. ▲ Passing by the Otaru Canal, a popular tourist attraction in Hokkaido. Construction began in 1868 and took nine years to complete. The Otaru Canal, a popular tourist attraction in Hokkaido, ranges from 20 to 40 meters wide and stretches 1,300 meters in length. The large stone warehouses from the Taisho and Shōwa eras lining the canal create a beautiful landscape. Rows of stone warehouses line the canal's sides, and the gas lamps near the canal square only reveal their splendor in the semi-darkness of the night. ▲★ Nix Marine Park, themed around Nordic Romanesque architecture and marine mythology. Nix Marine Park, featuring Nordic Romanesque architecture and marine mythology, features a main structure, including the Nordic-style Nix Castle and the large aquarium, Noboribetsu Sea World. Adorable king penguins will welcome you with a lively parade. - Itinerary - Day 1: [Shikotsu Lake National Park] Lake Shikotsu, with a circumference of approximately 40 kilometers and a depth of 360 meters, is Japan's second-deepest lake and the country's northernmost non-freezing lake. The water's clarity reaches approximately 18 meters at depth. Designated as Shikotsu Lake-Toya National Park in 1949, the area is surrounded by mountains around 1,000 meters high, such as Eniwadake and Tarumaeyama. The autumn foliage paints the lake a vibrant crimson. [Noboribetsu Cherry Blossom Tunnel] (Famous Cherry Blossom Viewing Spot) [Approximately late April to mid-May] On the way from Noboribetsu Station to Noboribetsu Onsen, a dedicated bus will pass by approximately 2,000 cherry trees lining the road, offering a unique cherry blossom viewing experience. This road is known as Japan's longest cherry blossom road. Even if weather conditions (rain, wind, or unusual temperatures) cause the flowers to wither or fail to bloom during the season, we will still continue our itinerary to enjoy the scenery. Noboribetsu Onsen boasts a diverse range of spring qualities, a rare sight in the world. These include 11 types: hydrogen sulfide springs (sulfur springs), salt springs, iron springs, simple carbonate springs, heavy carbonate springs, alum springs, sulfate springs (such as Glauber's salt, gypsum springs, and bitter springs), heavy sago springs, and radioactive springs. Hydrogen sulfide springs are particularly effective in treating rheumatism, injuries, and back pain. They are also popular among women for their whitening properties. Special Note: P.S. If cherry blossoms are in season, we will instead visit the Noboribetsu Cherry Blossom Tunnel [famous cherry blossom viewing spot] and cancel our visit to Lake Shikotsu National Park. Thank you. Meals: Breakfast and Lunch (onboard). Dinner: Hotel's deluxe buffet or hotel's deluxe buffet with crab or hotel's imperial welcome banquet. Accommodation: Noboribetsu Sekisuitei, Noboribetsu Manseikaku, Noboribetsu Park Yatei, or similar. Day 2: Nix Marine Park (Nordic Romantic Wonders, King Penguin Parade). This theme park embodies Nordic romance and marine fantasy. The castle is modeled after a medieval Danish castle. The aquarium houses approximately 250 species and 10,000 fish. Experience the giant seaweed tanks and underwater tunnels of arched tanks, where Napoleon fish swim, and feel like stepping into a fantasy world. The newly opened "Goldfish Kaleidoscope" exhibit features a goldfish tank and colorful lighting within a mirrored area, creating a large kaleidoscope of reflections of the swimming goldfish and the changing lights. Other popular attractions include spectacular dolphin and sea lion shows and a adorable penguin parade. (Closed April 9-13, 2018) Note 1: The penguin parade may be canceled due to the penguins' discomfort. Please note that the itinerary will be rerouted to the Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura during annual maintenance at Noboribetsu NIXE Marine Park or due to unforeseen circumstances. Please note that the itinerary will be rerouted to the Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura. Please note that the inconvenience may be caused. ✿ [Goryokaku Park] (One of Japan's Top 100 Castles) - Wisteria Blooms [Approximately Late May to Early June] Goryokaku Castle is Japan's first Western-style castle. Built in 1864, its five-pointed star-shaped walls are a must-see. Four years after the castle's completion, the Battle of Hakodate broke out. Enomoto Takeaki, a vassal loyal to the Tokugawa shogunate, led his troops to seize the castle and held out against Emperor Meiji's forces. After a month, Enomoto surrendered. Today, only the castle's outer walls remain, with the interior converted into a garden. After the cherry blossom season ends in May, wisteria flowers dangle from the trellises at the entrance. While not as abundant as in other cities, visitors here naturally find relaxation and enjoyment. [Kamori Warehouses] The red brick warehouses standing in the Bay Area were built in the late Meiji period to store seafood unloaded from ships. In 1988, they underwent extensive renovations, resulting in the establishment of the Hakodate History Plaza, a comprehensive facility boasting a variety of facilities and serving as a filming location for films and television programs. The Kanemori Western Museum, showcasing 20,000 Christmas-related items from around the world and handmade copper ornaments, is a popular attraction. [Hakodate Million Dollar Night View (Round-trip Cable Car)] Arrive at the foot of Mount Hakodate in the evening and take the cable car to the mountaintop observatory to admire the million-dollar night view of Hakodate, ranked alongside Hong Kong and Naples as one of the world's three most famous night views. The night view of Mount Hakodate is one of the world's most famous sights. At night, the fishing boats create a dreamlike beauty on the sea surface, creating a breathtaking scene. The cable car travels at a speed of 7 meters per second and can carry 125 passengers, making it the largest cable car in Japan. Hakodate is ranked among the most popular tourist destinations in Hokkaido. Afterwards, return to the hotel for a delicious dinner. *If the Hakodate Ropeway is unavailable due to annual maintenance, force majeure, or weather and wind conditions, each guest will receive a refund of 800 yen and take a bus up the mountain to enjoy the million-dollar night view. Thank you for your understanding. ※The Hakodate Sightseeing Bus will be temporarily closed from October 10th to November 12th, 2017, for maintenance. Located north of Hakodate, Onuma-Onumu Quasi-National Park comprises 126 islands and 32 bays. Surrounding the park are three alpine lakes: Onuma, Onumu, and Sensai-Numa, as well as Mount Komagatake, creating a breathtaking, European-style landscape. Enjoy a stroll along the lakeside and observe the volcanic ecosystem and waterfowl. Enjoy the breathtaking natural scenery, designated one of Japan's New Three Scenic Spots. [Kumbu Hall] (A Museum of Drift Ice World) features a modern, 16-meter-diameter spherical theater. Scheduled films showcase the konbu harvesting process, seafloor ecology, and drift ice dynamics. The hall also houses a Kumbu History Museum, which explains the development of the konbu processing industry. Visitors can also observe the konbu processing process in a demonstration factory. Kumbu products are also available for sale on-site. [Showa Shinzan - Bear Ranch] (Two apples or a bag of biscuits per person are provided as a gift for feeding the bears). Located near Showa Shinzan, Bear Ranch is home to approximately 100 brown bears, each approximately 2 meters long. Apples and biscuits are sold as feed, and you can personally feed the bears. The bears, now accustomed to humans, act adorably when they know they have food. Within the bear enclosure, there are "human cages" where you can experience the bears' powerful presence. There are also raccoon ranches and bear nurseries. On sunny days, you can see the bears come out to greet visitors, and you can pet and interact with the adorable bears. On rainy days, the bear feeding will be viewed through the glass window. Please note: Each VIP guest will receive two apples or a bag of cookies for the bears' favorite fruit and cookies, so don't try to snatch them! [Lake Toya Observation Deck] Located on a small hill on the north side of Lake Toya, facing the island in the lake, it offers panoramic views of Lake Toya's Big Island, Small Island, Kannon Island, and Mantou Island, as well as a 180-degree view of Lake Toya's captivating scenery. [Lake Toya Hot Spring] Lake Toya, one of only two lakes in Hokkaido that never freezes year-round, is as clear as a mirror and completely free of artificial pollution. In summer, Lake Toya is awash in blooming flowers and emerald green, with sailing, motorboating, and other water activities available. In winter, the surrounding mountains offer vibrant snow activities – this is the natural beauty of Lake Toya. Stay overnight at a hot spring hotel near Lake Toya for a romantic and unforgettable night. Spring Quality: Salt Spring. Benefits: Treats rheumatism, peripheral nerve dysfunction, gynecological problems, dry skin, joint and muscle pain, and fatigue recovery. *37th Lake Toya Fireworks Festival [April 28 - October 31, 2018] Fireworks festivals are a beloved Japanese festival, and they are particularly celebrated in Lake Toya. Every evening from late April to the end of October, fireworks launch boats fly to various hot spring hotels, launching fireworks as a welcoming gesture for visitors. This has become a signature attraction of Lake Toya. Without the fireworks, the night sky of Lake Toya would be much less spectacular. Please note that if the Toya hotel is fully booked, guests must relocate to other areas (Noboribetsu, Kita-Yuzawa, Niseko, Rusutsu, Jozankei), or weather conditions prevent the fireworks from being launched, the fireworks display will be cancelled. Meals: Breakfast/Hotel Lunch/Japanese seafood set meal or all-you-can-eat yakiniku dinner Dinner/Hotel welcome buffet or Japanese-style banquet meal Accommodation: Toyako Hantei, Toyako Manseikaku, or similar Day 4: [Niseko - Mr. Mishima's Shibazakura Garden] [Late May - Mid-June] Mr. Mishima, who lives in Kutchan Town, Niseko, has kindly opened his Shibazakura garden to the public. When in full bloom, the vast expanse of Shibazakura, approximately 4,000 square meters, is dotted with small flower mounds inspired by the lingering snow of Mt. Yotei. The peach, pink, and white Shibazakura blossoms create a heavenly scene, attracting visitors from all over the world. A former vegetable farmer, Mr. Mishima began cultivating Shibazakura upon retirement about 10 years ago to prevent his rice paddies from becoming abandoned. He cultivates the flowers in his garden with his own plantings, rather than purchased seedlings, and the number of flowers continues to grow. If Mr. Mishima's Shibazakura Garden is not in bloom, we will visit Meisui Park instead. We apologize for the inconvenience. Sapporo City Tour (Visiting: Odori Park, Former Provincial Government Office, Clock Tower) [Odori Park] Located in the heart of Sapporo, it stretches approximately 1.5 kilometers from Odori Nishi 1-chome to Odori Nishi 12-chome.
