Tour Overview

South Korea's best places to view fall foliage: Seoraksan National Park and Odaesan National Park

Visit Woljeongsa Temple, the filming location of the popular Korean drama "Goblin"

Seoraksan National Park is the first place in Korea to see its maple leaves turn red. Every autumn, in mid-October, the maple leaves along the main hiking trails paint the mountain a breathtaking crimson spectacle. Crowds flock to see the fall foliage. Seoraksan, with its dramatic peaks and rock formations, picturesque valleys, and diverse flora and fauna, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. In addition to the renowned Heungseoji Temple and the Bronze Buddha, Seoraksan Park offers easy access to the fall foliage, including the Biseondae Valley and Biryong Falls, perfect for all ages.

[Mountain Cable Car/Gwongeumseok]
Take the 670-meter-high Seoraksan Cable Car to the renowned Gwongeumseok. From here, you can admire the breathtaking views of Seoraksan's dramatic rocks and stunning fall foliage. On clear days, you can even gaze out across the entire mountain, stretching as far as the East China Sea. This is a must-see for visitors to Seoraksan. (Expensive fees included)

[Heungsungsa Temple/Unification Bronze Buddha]
Heungsungsa Temple, formerly known as Hyangseongsa Temple, boasts a 1,500-year history. The temple still houses the 1,400-year-old bell and the Geungnakbojeon Hall. In front of Heungsungsa Temple stands the largest outdoor bronze Buddha statue in South Korea, dedicated to the peaceful reunification of North and South Korea and to protect the world. It is also known as the "Unification Buddha."

[Guaranteed accommodation at either High One or Hanwha Resort Seoraksan. Hot Spring Water Park Tickets Included]
These two resorts in Gangwon Province offer spacious and comfortable rooms with comprehensive amenities. Both resorts' water parks are incredibly popular in Korea and a top choice for Koreans. Using 100% natural hot spring water, they offer both indoor and outdoor water parks and authentic hot spring saunas, perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

Odaesan National Park

Odaesan is named for the five peaks: Manwoldae, Jangnyeongdae, Kirindae, Sangsamdae, and Jigongdae. Its main peak, over 1,500 meters high, is a popular destination for leisurely hiking in South Korea. Every autumn, the area becomes even more vibrant, with the crimson leaves blanketing the mountain, attracting tourists from all over. The path from the entrance to Woljeongsa Temple is lined with maple trees and crimson leaves, and the creek along the way adds to the tranquil beauty. Odaesan Park is home to the largest natural forest in South Korea, home to a diverse array of rare plants and wildlife.

Woljeongsa Temple: Thousand-Year-Old Temple

Located in a valley within Odaesan Park, Woljeongsa Temple, a thousand-year-old temple dating back to the Silla period, comprises over sixty temples and nunneries, large and small. As a sacred Buddhist site in South Korea, it attracts a constant stream of tourists year-round. The Woljeongsa Valley is lush with vegetation, and in autumn, the maple leaves turn red. Inside, the temple boasts a large Dharma wheel, Buddhist paintings, and an octagonal nine-story stone pagoda, a national treasure dating back to the early Goryeo period. The temple is filled with ancient charm and well worth a visit.
