Besides the famous Cape Zanpa Lighthouse, Okinawa's most exciting activity is the Cape Zanpa Whale Shark Swim Experience. You can also experience swimming with whale sharks at Cape Zanpa. Children aged six and above can participate in the beginner's experience. There are three options available at Cape Zanpa: Snorkeling with whale sharks is available for ages six and above. For those 10 and above who are more adventurous or looking to challenge themselves, diving with whale sharks is available. Licensed divers can also participate in the exclusive Cape Zanpa Whale Shark Swim Experience, specifically designed for licensed divers. Regardless of your level, professional instructors will be on hand to provide comprehensive care and a worry-free experience.

Whale sharks, also known as tofu sharks, are the world's largest fish and primarily inhabit tropical and temperate waters. Despite their enormous size, whale sharks only feed on plankton and small fish—a truly adorable contrast! Their white spots sparkle like stars beneath the surface, earning them the nickname "stars of the sea." In Japan, whale sharks are called "jinbei sharks" (じんべいサメ) because the markings on their bodies resemble the traditional Japanese men's clothing, known as jinbei (じんべい). To protect these adorable and gentle whale sharks and maintain ecosystems, please avoid sunscreen when participating in the Okinawa Zanpa Cape Whale Shark Swim. Whale sharks may ingest sunscreen dissolved in the water while feeding. Despite their size, whale sharks are remarkably gentle and non-aggressive, making them a favorite among both adults and children. Regardless of which whale shark swimming experience you choose at Okinawa Zanpa Cape, you're guaranteed to be captivated.

To protect the health and emotional well-being of the whale sharks, Fun Diving (licensed divers aged 59 and up) will not allow you to enter the nets, but instead watch the sharks from outside.

・Snorkeling: Watch from above the net (surface)
・Scuba Diving: Watch from outside the net
・FUN Diving (licensed diver): Also watch from outside the net, but the dive depth will be deeper than the Fun Diving experience.

★Chinese-speaking instructors must be outsourced, so cancellations within three days of the day before the activity will not be refunded. By booking, you agree to this policy.

Travel Notes

・Chinese-speaking instructors are outsourced, so cancellations within three days of the day before the activity are non-refundable. By reserving, you agree to this policy.

・Please register and complete the payment process in advance.

・For safety reasons, only foreign nationals aged 59 and above are accepted.

・Please provide the name, age, gender, height, weight, foot size, and whether you require prescription diving goggles for myopia for all participants upon registration.

・We offer prescription diving goggles for myopia. If you require prescriptions, please specify the prescription in the 0.00 range; otherwise, we cannot provide them. Due to limited availability, there may be a possibility that the prescription you require cannot be met. We recommend wearing disposable contact lenses.

・Participants in Fun Diving must bring their diving license on the day of the activity and have at least 10 dives to participate. Please provide the number of dives you have made since receiving your license upon registration.

・Elementary school students must be accompanied by a parent. Junior high school students and minors require a signed family consent form.
・Due to poor sea conditions, the tour may be canceled. Details will be announced by 8:00 AM on the day of departure.
・Guests with flights on the same day are not eligible to participate in the Discovery Diving and Fun Diving tours.
・Diving equipment is not included with the Fun Diving tour. Please notify us in advance if you wish to use it, and an additional fee of 3,200 yen will be charged on-site.
・Please bring your own swimwear and towel.
・For those who participate in the Snorkeling with Whale Sharks, Scuba Diving with Whale Sharks, and Fun Diving with Whale Sharks tours, the hotel provides: changing rooms, hot and cold showers (free of charge), and lockers (100 yen per session).
・Guests with heart disease, pregnant or suspected pregnant passengers, respiratory diseases (such as asthma), ear and nose diseases, neurological or psychiatric diseases, joint or motor nerve diseases, high blood pressure, or diabetes are not eligible to participate in this tour.
・Chinese-speaking staff are available, but availability may not always be available at the desired time. This will be notified upon reservation.
・Underwater camera rental is ¥3,000/unit (comes with a 2GB SD card), payable on-site. Please inform us in advance if you require this.

Cancellation Clauses

Cancellations made 7 days prior to the start of the trip will receive a full refund.

Cancellations made 4-6 days (including the 6th day) prior to the start of the trip will incur a 30% handling fee.

Cancellations made 3 days (including the 3rd day) prior to the start of the trip will not receive a refund.

Cancellations made on the start date of the trip will not receive a refund.

If the event is affected by force majeure (e.g., typhoon warnings, heavy rain alerts, etc.), the organizer will determine whether to cancel the event. A full refund may be offered, or the participant may choose to reschedule the event.

Rescheduling requests due to personal reasons will be deemed cancellations and will be handled in accordance with the cancellation policy outlined above.

If participation is terminated due to reasons not attributable to the organizer, no refund will be given.
