Popular Hualien sea view spots: Dashibizhan and Xinshe Rice Terraces

Internationally renowned must-see: Shitiping, where you can freely sample local seafood

Whether it's the unique potholes of Shitiping, the soothing waves of rice paddies at the seasonal Xinshe Terraces, or the panoramic sea-sky views from the Dashibizhan Trail, they're all truly worth a visit. Don't worry about navigating the long, winding Taiwan Provincial Highway 11. Hop on a private car and easily explore the famous Hualien coastal attractions, savoring the rare ocean views of the East Coast!

Good morning, Hualien! Today's exciting Hualien coastline adventure begins. First, head to Fanshuliao to admire the unique rock formations on either side of Bridge No. 18, awe-inspiring natural wonders. Next, head to the Qinzhizhi Cliffs to admire the sheer, precipitous cliffs. Next, visit the Xinshe Rice Terraces, each captivating in its own way each season. Whether it's the lush green rice seedlings during planting or the golden waves of rice before harvest, the scenery is truly breathtaking. A must-see along the coastline is Shitiping, where sea terraces, raised coral reefs, sea gullies, and sea cliffs abound. The potholes, in particular, are among the best in Taiwan. It's with a sense of reluctance that this wonderful day trip to the coastline ends.

- Attraction Introduction-

▲ World-Class Geology Classroom | Shitiping
Shitiping is named for its multi-layered, stepped sea terraces, dotted with potholes and coral reefs. Walking along the stone path, you can delve into the geological landscape of sea gullies, sea cliffs, sea terraces, and raised coral reefs. This area is also a popular destination for divers and sea anglers.

▲ Forget the Pacific | Xinshe Sea Rice Terraces
The Xinshe Rice Terraces offer a unique view of the sea rice fields at every time of year. Set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean and the blue skies of the nearby east coast, they create a breathtaking landscape. Whether it's the lush green rice seedlings during transplanting or the golden waves of rice before harvest, the Xinshe Rice Terraces offer a unique seaside rice paddy scene at every time of year and season. Paired with the Pacific Ocean and the blue skies and white clouds of the nearby east coast, the scenery is breathtaking.

▲ Dreamy Seaview Trail | Dashibun Mountain Trail
Located at the southern end of the Jiqi Seaside Recreation Area, Dashibun Mountain is a small hill jutting out from the coastline. Due to its massive rock formations, its protruding location resembles a "nose" and its shape resembles a turtle's back, it's known as "Dashibun Mountain" or "Turtle's Back Mountain." Along the trail, you'll see forests of grasses, alliums, osmanthus fragrans, and wild lilies, making it an ideal spot for observing flora and fauna and the landscape.

▲ Glass Walkway on the Cliff | Qinzhizhizi Sea Historic Trail
This brand-new plank road, constructed along the sheer cliffs of Qinzhizhizi, is made of transparent tempered glass at its base. It stretches approximately 190 meters, offering breathtaking mountain views on one side and the azure Pacific Ocean on the other. The abyss beneath your feet is a breathtaking sight!

▲ Hollywood Movie Scene | Shimen March Cave
In addition to taking photos at the March Cave and the beachfront, visitors to the Shimen Recreation Area can also stand inside the cave and listen carefully to the three-dimensional resonance of the wind and waves. Also, take note of the vibrant coastal ecosystem, especially the diverse seaweeds that grow abundantly on the rocky shores. This diverse seaweed provides a grazing haven for fish and shrimp, creating a natural learning environment for observing coastal life.
