Gyeongju was once the capital of Silla, Korea's oldest state. It was a representative city of the 992-year-old Silla Dynasty. Relics from the Silla era are scattered throughout the city, earning it the nickname "a museum without a roof." Among its many historical sites, Buddhist heritage reigns supreme. Gyeongju's historical sites, including Buddha statues, reliefs, pagodas, temples, and palaces, are all classic masterpieces, profoundly influencing the development of Buddhist art and secular architecture on the Korean Peninsula. Beyond its historical sites, Gyeongju boasts neat streets and a rich rural atmosphere, making it a historical capital for Koreans and a must-see for foreigners visiting Korea.

[32nd Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Marathon]
This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Marathon & Stroll, renowned for its stunning cherry blossom scenery along the way. The event begins at the Pudeok-dong Community Center, passes Bomun Lake, and continues through downtown Gyeongju, surrounded by cherry blossoms, before returning to the starting point. Bomun Lake Park is also a renowned cherry blossom viewing spot, and the Gyeongju Marathon offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the cherry blossoms while running.

[Gyochon Hanok Village]
Gyeongju Gyochon is a hanok village in Gyeongju City. It offers visitors a chance to explore the Choi family's past, providing a modern educational experience. The village houses the Gyeongju Choi Clan House, designated as an Important Folk Cultural Property No. 27 of Korea, and offers a chance to sample Gyeongju Gyochon Bepchu, designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property. The village also features hands-on activities to experience the charm of Gyeongju's ancient city.

[Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond] Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond were detached palaces of the Silla royal family, often used for royal banquets. After the fall of Silla, this site fell into ruin during the Goryeo and Joseon periods, and was known as the "Anapji Pond." The discovery of pottery fragments in the 1980s with the inscription "Wolji" reaffirmed the site's original meaning of "Wolji," meaning "moon-reflecting pond." The name was therefore changed to "Eastern Palace and Wolji."

Cheomseongdae is the oldest surviving observatory in the East, and featured in the popular Korean drama "Queen Seondeok." Cheomseongdae is constructed from 365 equally sized stones stacked in 27 layers. The top is square, with a central square window. The 12 layers above and below, each representing the 12 months and 24 solar terms, are reminiscent of the modern calendar and add to the fun of viewing Cheomseongdae. From April to May, the fields surrounding Cheomseongdae are in full bloom, creating a spectacular sea of rapeseed flowers across Gyeongju City. The golden waves of rapeseed create a truly spectacular spectacle.
