Tour Overview

Yellowknife is located in Canada's Northwest Territories.

Nearby to Alaska, Yellowknife transforms into a prime spot for viewing the Aurora Borealis in winter.

Yellowknife's unique location places it squarely within the Aurora Borealis oval.

It's known as Canada's Aurora Capital, and the high chance of seeing the lights makes this a truly worthwhile experience.

Besides enjoying the aurora viewing in the evening, you can also enjoy ice fishing or dog sledding in the morning.

You'll definitely return home with a rewarding experience.

-Itinerary-

Day 1: Arrive in Yellowknife: Recommended arrival time is before 2:00 PM.

Our team will personally greet you at Yellowknife Airport, the world's northernmost capital city. After disembarking, you'll need to carry your luggage to the airport terminal. This is your first exposure to the pristine polar air and sub-zero temperatures, which will truly invigorate you. Don't forget to take a photo with the stuffed polar bears on the baggage conveyor belt while you wait for your luggage.
#In-City, Indigenous Cultural Tour: Embark on a cultural tour of Yellowknife, visiting the Prince of Wales Museum, the Visitor Centre, and the historic Indigenous settlement. Passing by the Canadian Armed Forces Headquarters, the RCMP Headquarters, City Hall, and basic residential areas... During the ice road's opening hours, drive along the Ice Lake Boulevard, shoveling snow and ice, posing like a fairy on the water, or even lying on the ice to "see the light"—it's a delight!
(If you don't complete the activities on the day, you will complete the entire city tour at another time.)
#Meeting Point Transfer to Lynx Cottage
Depart for Lynx Cottage, an offshore resort with a millennium-old environment and no human habitation. Travel north along Highway 3 for about half an hour, then transfer to a Swedish-made amphibious tank for a bumpy ride across the lake and up the island. #Aurora Viewing: Enjoy unrestricted 360-degree views from the frozen lake, tracking the ethereal yet magical "Northern Lights." There's no time limit, so you can stay up all night to capture the sight. The restaurant is open all night, serving hot drinks and cup noodles.

Accommodation: Lynx Cottage / Meals: Lunch at a local restaurant; Dinner at the Cottage, family-style buffet

Day 2
#Breakfast + Lunch: Snowmobiling / Ice Fishing (Fishing License Required) / Traditional Snowshoeing
Cottage staff will first test your snowmobile skills, then you'll be divided into groups and driven to a remote island to fish through ice holes in the lake. Each person will fish in their own hole, showcasing their unique skills. Of course, you can also try snowshoeing or snowmobiling – guaranteed to be a blast!

Ice fishing offers the chance to catch a large fish. Whether there are extra dishes for lunch depends on your visit! Luckily, the staff prepared a delicious hot soup with a little pepper. Mmm...it really warmed me up!

Return: Pack up and head back home. My snowmobile skills became even more refined by the return trip.

Aurora Viewing: Another night of watching the "dancing curtains." In this pollution-free environment, with no time limit for viewing the aurora, I marveled at the wonders of the Creator. After traveling so far, I always return with something worthwhile!

Accommodation: Lynx Cottage / Meals: Breakfast in the Cottage's dining room; Lunch: Picnic on the island with native bread; Meal in the Cottage's dining room

Day 3: Lynx Cottage

Departure: Pack up your luggage, pack up your memories, and pack up your heart. #Dog Sledding: Get ready (fully dressed for the cold) and let beautiful Alaskan sled dogs guide you through scenic wilderness trails, immersing you in the natural beauty of the snow. The trip lasts approximately 45 minutes, and a professional dog driver will explain safety procedures and lead you in pairs to self-drive the dog sleds into the jungle and lakeside.
#Aurora Viewing: Meet at a designated time and take a private bus approximately 30 minutes to a hut or aurora viewing platform. (A short break is available in the hut, where hot drinks and shelter are provided.)

Aurora Hut: Located on the shores of Great Slave Lake within the Australasian village. Enjoy aurora viewing, participate in traditional Australasian drumming and handcraft activities, and sample delicious local fish grilled over a fire in a traditional Australasian tipi.

Aurora Viewing Platform: A warm stove, hot soup and snacks, and flush restrooms are provided. The observation deck also features lounge chairs for stargazing.
Accommodation: EXPLORER HOTEL or similar / Meals: Breakfast in the hotel's dining room; Lunch/Dinner at a local restaurant

Day 4: Breakfast in the EXPLORER HOTEL dining room with a forest view → Departure → Say "See you next time" with a happy heart!

2. City tours and activities are subject to change, but we guarantee you won't miss out on any activities.

4. Because the lodge is located outdoors, running water may be frozen in winter. While the guest rooms have dry toilets, the cabins do not. Cabin guests will need to use the restroom in the main building. 5. Please note that during the winter, the cottage does not have running water due to frozen water lines. However, hot and cold water and antiseptic wipes are provided in the rooms for cleaning.
