Tour Overview

Hiroshima, a city often perceived as somewhat melancholic, is a city today. But today, Hiroshima has overcome its past traumas and revived its charm. Hiroshima Prefecture offers a rich variety of scenery throughout the four seasons. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and the Seto Inland Sea to the south, Hiroshima Prefecture boasts a rich tapestry of scenery, making it a truly remarkable destination for both summer marine activities, autumn's vibrant autumn colors, and winter's captivating snow-capped landscapes.

Today, let our Funba experts guide you through this city steeped in history and natural beauty!

First Stop: Miyajima - Itsukushima Shrine
Miyajima is the nickname for Itsukushima Island, located in southwestern Hiroshima Prefecture. Since ancient times, it has been believed to be inhabited by gods and imbued with spiritual energy, making it a center of deity for the surrounding area. This elegant shrine was founded in the late sixth century by the powerful Aki clan, Saeki Uramoto.

Itsukushima Shrine is famous for its shinden-style residence, once the residence of high-ranking nobles during the Heian Period. This massive island residence, towering over the sea, is a symbol of Miyajima. Built on the sea itself, it is one of Japan's most renowned shrines today. The vermilion shrine, set against the lush greenery of Mount Misen and contrasting with the blue of the Seto Inland Sea, creates a breathtaking scene reminiscent of a palace dedicated to the Dragon King. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.

Second Stop: Peace Memorial Park and Museum

In 1945, Hiroshima was the site of the world's first atomic bombing during World War II. Nearly all buildings were destroyed, with the miraculous exception of the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall. Today, this building, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, serves as a symbol of peace prayer for the locals.

Stop 3: Atomic Bomb Dome (View from Train Window)

The Atomic Bomb Dome was originally the Hiroshima Industrial Promotion Hall, built in 1915. Designed by a Czech architect, it was a European-style building that once housed the exhibition and sale of Hiroshima products. After the atomic bombing, it became known as the "Atomic Bomb Dome," and its remains have been preserved to symbolize the cruelty of war and the longing for peace.
