Step into the Laoqijia Slate House Tribe in Pingtung, where over 40 traditional Paiwan slate houses are arranged in a terraced pattern. A breathtaking view of blue sky, verdant mountains, lush waters, stone houses, and smoke from cooking fires unfolds before your eyes, creating a scene resembling a city in the sky. Built stone by stone, these houses, handcrafted by the tribesmen, have stood for over a century, enduring typhoons and earthquakes. As your guide explains the history of the Laoqijia Slate House Tribe, including stone carvings, hunting skulls, the chief's house, and the warrior's house, along with traditional Aboriginal cuisine, you'll experience the hardships of our ancestors' pioneering work and their respect for the tribal land. Step by step, you'll journey into the past and present of the Laoqijia Slate House Tribe!

Travel Notes

The Laoqijia Slate House Village tour is an in-depth cultural and ecological tour, so there will be extensive walking and guided tours. The total walking time is approximately 3 hours round trip. Those who prefer a quick tour or are in poor physical condition should assess their condition before registering.

If you are bringing children to the Laoqijia Slate House Village tour, please consider their physical fitness and leg strength. If you do not want to continue walking halfway, you will still need to enter and exit with the group! (Children and adults pay the same price.)

Entrance to the Laoqijia Slate House Village must be requested; you cannot enter on your own. If you cannot attend due to personal reasons within 5 days of departure, no refund will be given. Only a name change will be permitted. Changes to your name must be notified at least 3 days before the tour date.

Vegetarians, please indicate this in the reservation. Vegetarian and lacto-ovo vegetarian meals are available. If you require a fully vegetarian group, you must provide your own meals.

Before registering, please ensure you are in good health. Those with heart disease, high blood pressure, or other serious illnesses are not suitable for this experience and should not register.

The Laoqijia Slate House Tribe tour requires a minimum of 14 people. If the tour cannot be completed due to insufficient numbers, we will notify you at least 10 days prior to departure to reschedule or refund your entire trip.

Please arrive on time for the tour. Latecomers or no-shows will have their tour cancelled without a refund.

When entering the Laoqijia Slate House Tribe, please follow the instructions of the tour guide. Do not touch any items in the village. Do not trespass or damage the slate houses. The slate houses on the mountain require careful preservation. Do not touch or damage them. Please also refrain from making loud noises that may disrupt the living environment of the inhabitants.

To protect the mountain environment, picnicking is prohibited. Please bring your own trash home and do not litter.

The itinerary of the Lao Qijia Slate House Tribe may be adjusted in sequence or in part due to weather conditions, traveler conditions or special factors.

The cost does not include:

Any expenses not specified in the Lao Qijia Slate House Tribe itinerary, any self-funded expenses or any expenses derived from the itinerary.

Cancellation Clauses

Cancellations made 31 days prior to the start of the trip will receive a full refund; however, if the group has already been registered and the booking process is in progress, a 10% handling fee will be deducted.

Cancellations made 13-30 days before the start of the trip (including the 30th day) will incur a 30% handling fee.

Cancellations made 6-12 days before the start of the trip (including the 12th day) will incur a 50% handling fee.

Cancellations made 5 days prior to the start of the trip (including the 5th day) will incur a 100% handling fee.

Cancellations made on the day of the tour are non-refundable.

If the event is affected by force majeure (e.g., typhoon warnings, heavy rain alerts, etc.), the organizer will determine whether to cancel the event. A refund will be made after deducting a $50 per person handling fee. Alternatively, the participant can reschedule the event to a later date without any deduction.

If the event is cancelled during the tour due to force majeure (e.g., road closures, or other emergencies), no refund will be given.

Rescheduling due to personal reasons will be deemed a cancellation and will be handled in accordance with the cancellation policy above.

If the participant cancels the event due to reasons beyond the organizer's control, no refund will be given.

Cancel 14 days before the booking date and receive a full refund.

Cancel 10-13 days before the booking date and receive a 70% refund.

Cancellations made 7-9 days before the scheduled date will receive a 50% refund.

Cancellations made 4-6 days before the scheduled date will receive a 40% refund.

Cancellations made 2-3 days before the scheduled date will receive a 30% refund.

Cancellations made 1 day before the scheduled date will receive a 20% refund.

Cancellations made on the scheduled date will not receive a refund.
