Hehuan Mountain, located in Ren'ai Township, Nantou County, Taiwan, comprises seven peaks, collectively known as the Hehuan Mountain Group. All peaks reach over 3,000 meters above sea level. Five of these peaks are designated as one of Taiwan's 100 Peaks, making them popular pilgrimages for hikers. These five peaks are Hehuan Mountain's main peak, Hehuan Mountain's East Peak, Hehuan Mountain's North Peak, Hehuan Mountain's West Peak, and Shimen Mountain. Shimen Mountain's summit requires only an 800-meter hike, making it the most accessible of Taiwan's 100 Peaks. Hehuan Mountain boasts stunning scenery in every season. In spring, pink Jade Mountain azaleas and Red Rhododendrons bloom; in summer, the mountain's arrow bamboo grasslands stretch out; and in winter, the snow capped mountain is known as "Snow Town." With sunrises and sunsets shimmering in the clouds, and the Milky Way starry skies in summer, a Hehuan Mountain hike is a must-see for any Taiwan mountaineering adventure!
The Hehuan Mountain complex boasts five of Taiwan's 100 Peaks. The Hehuan Mountain Main Peak (round-trip, approximately 1.5 hours) and the Shimen Mountain Trail (round-trip, approximately 30 minutes) are both easily accessible due to their gentle slopes. If you're so inclined, you can reach the summit of Hehuan Mountain and enjoy the panoramic views of the alpine grasslands and surrounding mountains! Therefore, these two peaks are the most popular climbing routes in the Hehuan Mountain itinerary.
