Gangneung Central Market is the most representative Butong Market in Gangneung, Gangwon Province. Established in 1980, it is a permanent market open daily. Central Market is primarily divided into the Butong Market and the underground seafood market. The first floor houses retail and wholesale markets for electronics, clothing, dried fish, shoes, and food ingredients; the second floor houses restaurants and cafes; and the basement features a fresh fish and seafood market, offering a wide variety of goods. Here, you can glimpse into the lives of Gangneung residents and savor the authentic local cuisine. Garlic bread and fried chicken are also recommended must-try dishes at Gangneung Jungang Market.

Located in Hyangho, Jumunjin-eup, Jumunjin Beach boasts a 700-meter-long, 9,608-square-meter beach. Its clear, shallow waters make it a perfect summer getaway for the whole family. ▲Gyeongpodae
Gyeongpodae is Gangneung's most famous pavilion and is designated Tangible Cultural Property No. 6 in Gangwon Province. Its roof features the "paljak" style, the most common Korean house, with six rooms on the front and five on the sides, supported by 32 pillars. The tranquil atmosphere creates a sense of being in a natural art museum. It's said that Gyeongpodae was built in the 13th year of King Chungsuk of Goryeo by Anryeonsa, Park Suk, on the site of Inwolsa Temple, located behind the current Banghaejeong Pavilion. It was later relocated to its current location, but the exact circumstances remain unclear. Gyeongpodae boasts numerous famous works, including "Gyeongpodae Fu" written by Joseon scholar Yulgok Yi I at the age of ten, a royal poem by King Sukjong of Joseon, and "Beam-Raising Sacrifice" by Cho Hawang, the Joseon governor of Gangneung. The "Eight Views of Gyeongpo" and "Gyeongpo Wolsam" (Gyeongpo Wolsam) are renowned nationwide for their captivating scenery. Nearby Gyeongpodae are Gyeongpo Beach and Gyeongpo Lake. Every January 1st, many people flock to Gyeongpo Beach to admire the first sunrise of the new year, making it essential to book accommodations in advance. Furthermore, Chodang-dofu (Chodang-dong) near Gyeongpo Lake is a famous Gangneung delicacy and a must-try for any visitor. The Gyeongpodae Cherry Blossom Festival, held in early April each year, is Gangneung's signature spring celebration and attracts large numbers of visitors from both home and abroad. A special day trip to Gyeongpodae's cherry blossom viewing in South Korea includes a family bike ride. Enjoy the spring breeze as you leisurely ride along the beautiful 4.3km cherry blossom path surrounding Gyeongpo Lake. The vibrant blossoms, like forsythia and daffodils, create a breathtaking spectacle that will leave you wanting more.

Anmok Beach Cafe Street is a must-see in Gangneung. It's one of the most famous spots in South Korea and the cradle of coffee culture, with many renowned brands having their first coffee shops here. Every October, Gangneung Cafe Street hosts the Gangneung Coffee Festival, where you can learn about and experience coffee with a coffee expert. The rich aroma of coffee, wafting through the sea breeze along the 510m-long white sand beach of Gangneung Anmok Beach, is the first thing you'll notice about Cafe Street.
